Dungannon agricultural society plans euchre tournament and flea market On Tuesday, March 26, the Dungannon Agricultural Society held its monthly • meeting at the hall. A proposed agreement for food sales at the Dungannon Fair grounds accepted, by. the members and will be presented to an interested food concessionaire. Doug Young has .agreed to have his group supply musical entertainment at the Dungannon Fair, August 17. Plans were finalized for the final euchre tournament of the season, which will take place Saturday, April 13. At that time, several door prizes will be given out as well as $.120 in prize money for .the. top .three sets of • partners playing euchre. Those attending may also take part in a 50 - 50 draw. As usual lunch will be served. Plans are also underway foran indoor flea market at the . Dungannon , hall .on Saturday, April 20. Secretary, Bonnie Hodges, reported that all fair judges have been contacted and that the fair book is ready to go the, printers. Although four local printing companies were contacted for estimates, only . two replied! .The Print Shop in Goderich was selected to print the 1985 Fair Book, which should be available by the end. of . Our 1984 ,Miss Dungannon Fair, Susan Brindley, attended themeeting to give a report about' her trip in February to the Ontario Agricultural Societies' convention at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Committees were set up for the various contests which are a part of the Dungannon .Fair including, pet show and parades chain sawing, log sawing, bale throwing, arm wrestling, horseshoe pitching, baby show, bicycle races,. watermelon seed spitting and more: A miscellaneous class was added to the ' parade for those who do not fit into the listed categories: most humorous float, most original float, pony and .cart and -or' pony and rider, pre-school child, element- ary school child, best vintage vehicle and best school entry. Any organization or club is invited to enter a float on the theme of the International Year of the Youth. Members are excited about the draw to be held at the Variety concert on Family Fun Day, Sunday, August 11.
