The Lucknow Sentinel, 1985-03-27, Page 7Walter James Black Walter J. Black died Friday, March 8, 1985 at his residence on Ross Street, Lucknow. He was bom on the family farm, fourth Concession, Huron Township on November 20, 1913 and lived there until moving to Lucknow, a little more than a year ago. He. was the. son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Black of Huron Township. He married Mary McGuire in 1945. He is survived by his wife, Mary, three sons, Bill, Edmonton; David, Dundas; Jim, Huron Township; one daughter, Joyce, Edmonton and 'one granddaughter, Natalie, Huron Township. He was predeceased by two sisters, Olive and Violet and one brother, Ross. 111e funeral took place at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home on Tuesday, Match 12, 1985, with Rev. Glen MacPherson, officiating. Spring interment Ripley cemetery. Edith (Johnston ) Cooke Edith Cooke of Kitchener passed. away Sunday, March 17,. 1985 at her home. The daughter of the late J. Franklin Johnston and Emily Atkinson, she lived on the tenth concession of Ashfield Township and later moved to Goderich. She married Hector Cooke and moved to Kitchener where they resided. She Was, .an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and showed one of . her many talents through her craft work. Surviving besides her husband, Hector are a sister Madeline McDonald, London, a sister-in-law, Jean Johnston, Kitchener, three nieces and two . nephews. She was predeceased by a tibrother, Keith. Kerry Earlier this winter in January Greta C. Kerry passed away in Toronto, after being incapacitated for several years. Greta was born in Brant Township near Eden Grove, May 4, 1902. She had lived in Toronto since early 1920s working in the Park Lawn Cemetery office. Survivors are sister, Viola in Elmira; sister-in-law, Mary Kerry of Victoria; several nieces and nephews and two grand nieces. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Gordon. Funeral service was held at Turner and Porter York Chapel, Toronto. Spring burial in Douglas Hill Cemetery, Brant Township. Mary Elizabeth Newbold Mary Elizabeth Newbold passed away at her home in Merrickville Wednesday, March 13, 1985 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Born in .St. Thomas, Ontario, April 7, 1982, she was the only daughter of Colleen and David Newbold and dear sister of Rob. She is survived by her grandmother, Mrs. L Kinnear of. Kemptville and grand- father, George Newbold of Lucknow and Bradenton, Florida and her great grand- father, Percy Newbold of Toronto. The family of the late Mary Elizabeth Newbold received friends at Rolston Funeral Home, Kemptville on Thursday, March 14, 1985. Funeral service was held in the ehapel of the funeral home on Friday, March 15, 1985 with Rev. Stanley Ralph officiating. Her cousin, piper Sheelagh Kelly played Amazing Grace.
