Alachlor is used to control weeds in eom, soybean and potato cops. Traces of the chemical have been found in.southern Ontario water supplies.. -The herbicide has been granted a tempor- ary registration permit to cover the 1985, growing season and designated a Restricted Class Pesticide.. Agriculture Canada is co-operating with the provinces to provide information and' advice to potential users. The product will bear cancer warning labels 'and protective clothing requirements. In addition, all aerial spraying as well as application on potatoes have been cancelled and producers will only be able to use stods already in the country.
