Consider effects of advertising
President Luba Strutton diaired the Agri-
culture and Canadian Industries meeting of
the St. Helens brandi of the Women's
Institute held Thursday, Mardi , 7. Nine
members and two guests were present. The
roll call, "What effect does advertising have
on you and your family", promoted an inter-
esting discussion on T.V. advertising.
Thank you cards were read from Eteattice
McQuillin and the family of Hazel Pardon.
It was decided to have a lundi booth zit Jim
Aitchison's farm sale on April 8 and to 'cater
Lancers lead playoff
The Ludmow Lancers picked up where they
left off in playoff action as they squeaked by
the Ripley Roosters 6 - 5 Sunday'aftemoon in
Ripley.
Brad Humphrey got the ball rolling early in
the firstperiod" when he stole' the puck at
centre ice and beat the Ripley goal tender.
Late in .the period Humphrey's line gave the
Lancets a two goal lead with Jim Murray
• getting the goal this time with Brad and
Randy Alton assisting.
Brian Regier put Ripley on the scoreboard
earlyin the second and half a minute later
Jamie Gallant tied it at two. Brad Humphrey
came to the rescue again for the Lancers for
his second goal of the game to put Ludmow
ahead 3 - 2. Grant Murray pumped in
two more goals before the period ended to
give Iiicknow a 5 - 2 lead after two periods.

Errington, who also gave a reading by Enna
Bombeck
After some discussion, it was decided to
find a safer and more suitable storage place
for the old record books._
The guest speaker, Mary Bere, gave a very
interesting and enjoyable account, and
showed slides and artifacts' of New Guinea,
which she recently visited.

in the third period it was Humphrey's line
again applying pressure in the Ripley zone
and after bouncing a couple shots off the post,
they finally banged one past Harrison in the
net. The Lancers saw their lead dwindle to
one goal as Ripley came on Aping in the last
20 minutes with Paul Wilken, Kevin Stewart
and Brent Armstrong getting the goals.
With the score 6 - 5 the Lancers were able
to stall the Roosters attack for the rest of the
game and Lucknow got their first win of the
season over the Roosters. To Jurther add
insult to injury, Gary Dauphin came home,
with a pocket full of money as he won the 50 -
50 draw.
The war continues this week as the second
battle is slated for 9.00 p.m. Wednesday in
Ludmow, 8:30 p.m. Fliday in Ripley and 7.30
p.m. Sunday in lacknow.

245 and a triple of 406.

pathy to Mrs. Walter Black and family of
Lucknow on the sudden passing -of her
husband, Walter. Mary and Walter fanned
for many years on the fourth concession ,of
Huron Township.
Brian McGuire of Kitchener spent the
weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
McGuire.
Jack Barrett and grandson 'of Toronto
visited on the weekend with Anchew

Michael Burgess, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Mark Burgess of Waterloo, spent a few days
last week visiting with his aunt and uncle,
Mr. and Mrs. Ron McGuire, Chris and Scott.
Jack McGuire was able to return ,home last
week after spending three weeks in Toronto
Fast General Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. David Black of Hamilton
spent a few days with his mother, Mrs.
Walter Black and attended the funeral of his
father.
Joyce Black and Mr. and Mit. Bill Black of
Edmonton flew home for the funeral of their
father, Walter Black and spent a Week with
their mother in Ludmow.
