Council wants decision soon

the Ministry of the. Ebvironment, outlining
their concerns about the delay in approval for
the sewage 't*eatinent site. ,
Correction
A :-eport on municipal wage increases in
last week's Sentinel said the assistant fore-
mao of the; village of Lucknow, Doug
Hafdenby; -received a 2.9 per cent increase m
1984 to bring his salary to. $17,500 when in
fact, the $500 increase was payment for
Haldenby's additional duties as village -
building inspector, a position he assumed at
that time. In effect Haldenby has not received -
an increase to his base salary since 1982.
County council sets aside
•2,50,000 for museum fund.
Huron County council gave -an approval. of
sorts for the go ahead of ' Huron County
Pioneer Museum but whether or not a neW
museum actually gets built depends on the
c»uneil elected' this fall.
Close to 50 people heard county coma

$300,000 in a reserve fund this year for the

West Wawanosh reeve Jim Aitchison voted
in favour of the reserve fund while Ashfield
reeve John Austin voted against the mention.
Although, council agreed in prindple with a
Museum in Huron County with a 27 to 1 vote,
the amount of money tote spent was a point
for debate. Reeves from ureter and Hay and
Morris Townships questioned the size of
facilities needed for the museum
Exeter's Reeve Bill Midde and Deputy
Reeve Lissy Faller called for reducing the.
size of a future . museum, thus lowering the
cost.
"Can 55,000 people -support a building of
this size on a year round operation?" asked
Reeve Mickle. "We need to think seriously •
about how much wewant ?to spend on this
building."
Morris Township Reeve Bill Elston said his
council was only willing to commit the county /
to a total of $500,000 for the museum project.
Support of the motion is only putting -
_money aside for a start at the museum, said
Bayfield Reeve, Dave Johnston. "Tyle draft
Dopy is not set in stone but we need to start
planning now. We're not being asked to store
artifacts; we're being asked to preserve them.

started. We're just asking to get started. We

don't get the operation up to ministry
standards, they're going to close -the

The regular meeting of Kinloss Council was
held on Tuesday, Marti 4 due to . the snow
storm on Monday. Reeve Barry' Johnston and
all council members were present.
By-law 8-1985 was passed in respect to the
transfer of property from the Village of
Luc$now, to the Townships of Ashfield,
Kinloss and West Wawanosh. Each municip-
ality now has. a 25 per cent share of the
ownership of the Medical Centre in li cknow.
An "application fora file dtairi loan for T:=
MacKinnon, west part lot 11, concession 4,
was accepted for $1,600.00.
A motion was passed that $100.00 be
donated to the Ludmow Agricultural Society
for 1985 the same as in 1984.
Motions were passed to advertise for
tenders for crushing, hauling and spreading
approximately 32,000 cubic yards of "A"
gravel on township roads and for supplying
and spreading gravel on ratepayers private
roads, also for approximately 130 flake tonnes
of calcium chloride to be delivered at the mad .
superintendent's direction. Tenders are to be,
in the`mad superintendent's office by '4200
p.m , on April 1st, 1985.
General accounts for $15,393.73 and mad -
ways accounts for$20,485.13 were approved.
