Midgets win Dorchester series
meet Langton in semi-final
Ludcnow Midgets took their OMHA
quarter final series with an 8 - 7 win' over
„Dor hester on Friday night. The tempo of the
game was muck faster than the third contest
as the Dorchester team proved to be quality
competitors.
Lucenow opened the scoring early on a goal
by Brad Priestap from Gilchrist on their first
shift, but both teams settled into the game
without further scoring until Dorchester tied
the score at 1.28. Late in the period, Dan
Gilchrist scored from Priestap and Irwin to
give Ludknow a 2 - 1 advantage at the end of
the period. ' .
.About the 10 minute mark of the seoond,
John Vandervelde scored from McKim and
Hackett to give Ludcnow a two goal edge, but
Dored►ester shocked the home crowd with
three straight. Ludcnow responded on a goal
by Chris Irwin from Gibson. and Gilchrist, and
escaped from that frame with a 4 4 tie.
In the third, two quick goals by Dorchester
again quietened the crowd, but Scott Hackett
kept things close with an unassisted goal
about the 15 minute mark. Dorchester
re-established the two goal edge but goals by
. Dan Gilchrist about the 13 minute mark, by
Gilchrist again from Steve Murray and Irwin
at thenine minute mark and by Brad Priestap

gave Iuccnow a slim 8 - 7 lead which. held to
the bell.
Dorchester capped a spirited performance
by pulling their goalie with just under two
minutes left but with three face offs in a row
in the l:udknow end and the 'pressure on,
centennan Priestap won all three.
What a game! The score was tied four
times. The locals were on the ropes and
surged back for the win. The action was fast
and dean which prompted referee Clarke
Pollock to write ori the game sheet,, "These
two teams are very well coached - a credit to
OMHA hockey".
What a series 1 hi four games, 65 goals
were scored; 36 from Ludcnow. Two of the
'four garnes were decided by just one goal. All
were entertaining.
The Midgets advance to the OMHA
semi-fmaLs for the second year in a row. They.
will play Langton in a series to start in
Langton on Wednesday.
Lords win Silvertr�phy

The Zanesville lords won the Silver Trophy game of,the tournament thus far on Saturday
in the Central Western Ontario Broomball against ,the Seaforth Easy Riders, It, was an

Lancers defeat St. Clements
advance to next playoff round
The Lrcknow Lancers advanced to the
seoond. round of playoff action last weekend
as they won two games with St. Clements to
sweep the series in , four games.
Friday night in St. Clements the Saints
were looking for their fust win of the series
,and held a 2 1 edge late in the fest period
with Ludmow's goal coming off the 'stick of
Steve MacPherson. Lucknow tied it before the
period ended when Pat Murray set up Grant
Gilchrist for a short handed goal.
Early in the second period, the Lancers
found themselves short handed and once
again coach Dauphin had the big rover and
Grant Gilchrist on the ice where they netted
their second shorthanded goal of the night.
Brad . Humphrey slapped in a loose pick in
front of the Saints net for a two goal lead,
then Randy Alton and Dave MacKinnon each
scored to end the period 6 - 2 for the Lancers.
In the final frame each team scored once for
a 7 - 3 final score. Brad Humphrey picked up
his second of the night for the Lancer's goal.
Allan Dyck replaced Dennis Kerr 'midway
through the second and allowed just/one goal
in preserving the win.
Sunday night in Ludknow, the Saints finally
decided to play some hockey but the Lancers,
were equal to the task and came up with a 4 -
2 win. •
Dave MacKinnon opened the scoring early
in the fust then Brad Humphrey added
another as the Lancers led 2 - 0 after one.
St. Clements tied it in the second but Steve
Simpson slid one under the goalie as the
Lancers went ahead to stay. >d Humphrey
took a pass from the ref in the third and went
the length, of the ice to score on a breakaway
as the Lancers finished off the Saints 4 - 2.
Allan Dyck played well again in the Ludcnow
net.
The Lancers have a week off now as they
wait for the winners of, the Ripley -Mildmay
series.
Atom A team: wins
Paisley series
The Ludcnow Atom A team. defeated
Paisley threegan' s to none in the first round
of their playoff series. Scoring for Ludknow in
the' last game was Justin Murry with a hat
trick One goal was assisted by Chris
Stevenson, one assisted by Clint Murray
along with one unassisted. It was a shut out
for Adam Skillen.
In Lrcmow Friday evening the team beat
Teeswater in the second round to the tune of
11 - zip. Chris Stevenson 'and Justin Murray
once more showed their skill by scoring four
goals each. Other goals went to Clint Murray,
Rob Crich, and Ray"Dalton. Assists 'went to
Daniel Jones with two, Brad Rhody with two,
Justin Murray with two and Terry Stanley,
Chris Stevenson, Rob Crich, Clint Murray
with one eadi.
It was another shut out for Adam Skillen,
who was also presented with the Claude Guay
trophy for goalie with the best goals against
average in the Ludcnow Minor Hockey Assoc-
