March is Easter Seal month
'lb successive generations of Ontario
residents, Mardi has • become known as
Easier Seal month when members of 235
service clubs across the pmvince will be
canvassing their local communities in the
hopes of raising funds to aid physically
disabled children. 'Nis year's target is $3.45
million.
The local Easter Seal campaign will be
conducted during the Month of Manh by the
Lucknow District lions Club. Donations can
be mailed to Orville Elliott or left at McDon-
agh Insurance or Bank of Montreal.
"The Easter Seal Society is the largest
children's service of its kind in North
America," explains John Butler, coordinator

Michael Scott, 18, of R 6 'Goderich remains
in serious condition in Victoria Hospital in
London after he was pinned between his car
and a bus owned by Sherwood Transportation
Co. at 1.10 p.m. last Tuesday. •
According to the Goderidi detadiMent of
the OPP, Scott was travelling north in the
atorm when the car became stuck in snow.
The bus whidi was also travelling north
struck therm of the Scott vehicle: Sciatt, who
was standing at the rear of his car, was
pinned between the two vehicles. No other
injuries were repotted.
Scott was taken to Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital in Goderich and immediate-
ly tushed to 'Victoria Hospital, London.. • .

Butler says the 17 hour telethon has a new
look with each hour themed to satisfy the
musical tastes of all viewers. Superthon will
air in the following cities: Ottawa, Toronto,
Wingham, London, Sudbury, /North Bay,
Sault Ste. Marie, Tannins, Windsor, Thund-
er Ray, Barrie and Kingston.
The Easter Seal Society was- founded in
1922 when repmentatives from 10 service
dubs formed the Ontario Society for Crippled
Children in order to, provide adequate resour-
ces and support for physically disabled
children. The Society is governed by a
volunteer Board of Directors with proviir
wide representation.
The Society provides care for children up to
19 years of age whose activity is restricted by
a physical handicap resulting from accidents,
disease, congenital defect, birth injury or
amputation.
