Chairs meeting
Mrs. Clarence. Ritchie, newly elected pres-
ident, chaired the first general meeting of
Iucknow U. C. W . for 1985 on Tuesday, Febru-
ary 26 in the fellowship mom of the church.
She opened the meeting with a poem.
Mrs. Harvey Houston presided at the
piano. The offering was received by Mrs.
W illiam'Campbell and Mrs. Gordon Morrison
and dedicated by Mrs. Eldon Bradley.
I Mrs. Stuart Reavie presented the financial
report showing receipts of $526.50 and expen-
ditures of $176.50 to date. Mrs. Glen Walden
presented the suggested budget of $6335.00
for 1985 in the absence of the finance
_ chairman, Mrs. Vernon Hunter.
' Correspondence was dealt with by Mrs.
Ken Cameron in which she stated the old
choir gowns had been given to the Wingham
District High School. Membership chairman,
Mrs. . Eldon Bradley reported five new
members had been welcomed to the
afternoon units. Mis. Gordon Cayley reported
for Amnesty International and gave a review
of C.G.LT. work.
Mrs: George McBride, program chairman,
presided for the program, stressing the
leadership division of the U.C.W. A very
meaningful Lenten service entitled, What's
New, was given in the form of ,a radio -talk
show with 'Vim. Clarence Ritchie and Norma
Weatherhead acting as commentators. The
following members dressed in Biblical garb
represented various Biblical characters and
were interviewed, Mrs. Stuart Reavie, Mrs.
Glen Walden, Mrs. Harvey Houston, Mrs.
Alex Andrew, Mrs. Eldon Bradley, Mrs.
Robert Campbell, Mrs. George McBride,
Mrs. Gordon Morrison and Mrs. Gordon •
Cayley.
Hymns, scriptures and responsive readings
and a piano instrumental by Mrs, "Harvey
Houston were used in keeping with the
Lenten theme.

regular February meeting at the Inc know
Community Centre with 17 members present.
n.,...Beports of the Agricultural Societies Con-
vention at the Royal York in Toronto were
given by the delegates, Mr. and Mrs. Leo
Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Errington and
Glen Walden. 1Vl'iss Lindell Cross, Miss
Ludknow Fall Fair, attended the convention
with 108 other beauty queens.
Shirley McKerrall, past president of the
ladies section of OAAS will officially open this
year's fair.
Due to ;extra' donations and since this is
Iueknow's 20th anniversary of the Miss
Miss Western Ontario Beauty Pageant, the
prize money will be raised to $380.00,
$220.00, $175.00 and $125.00 for the queen
and runnersup.
Application forms for the 15th Craft •
Festival to be held on August 2 and 3 have
been forwarded to interested craftsmen.
Allan Miller volunteered •to attend the
RS.V.Pseminar in Walkerton on March 18.

right to recommend the line going from Bruce
to Barrie. Affected" land owners treed to make
it clear that they are gointo stand up for
their rights. And dearly /they need. to get
organized. The lawyers and stock brokers
who own cottages in the area of the Bruce to
Barrie mute did.
Members of the 1 bodland Hydro Commit-
tee' are planning two meetings to help
affected land owners organize to protect their
property rights and prepare for the upcoming
hearings. The first meeting will be 8.30 p.m.
March 21 at South Huron Secondary School
inExeter. The second will be at 8.30 p.m.
March 22 at F. E Madill Secondary School in
Wingham. In the meantime people should
talk with their neighbours and, start collecting
names and addresses of those willing to
become involved in this organization.
