Grade 1 tours post office

Mrs. Young's and Mrs. Blanchette's grade
1 lasses went to the Lucknow Post Office and
Fire Hall. At the Post Office they watched the
mail being sorted, saw the safe and cancellEe
tion hammer, and were served cookies. At the
Fire Hall they were allowed` to climb on the
fire engine and Lisa Walden wore a fireman's
hat.
Mr. Sygrove's lass has been • making
poetry books and seashell books.
Mrs. Tebbutt's grad 4' class is now working
on a unit about magnets.
The Brookside girls played a, hockey game
with Ripley with a score of 6 - 0. Teresa
Meriam played goal for the first time
Joel Wright' trim Alien's grade,
placed fust in the Legion Public Speaking
competition at Iirdmow on February 15. He
goes on to the zone competition in Goderidh
. • on March 2. °
Skating was enjoyed for an hour on

Thursday afternoon by all Brookside school
children at Ludmow arena. About 77 pupils
stayed at the school with four teachers.
During the F fessional Development Day
on Friday the teachers . met with Special
Education Superintendent Paul Carroll and
Area Resource teachers, Darlene F1lison and
Charlotte Fbnjoy : to discuss schoolneeds and
how area resource teachers canbest help
school, .personnel. Ipthe afternoon Debbre ;
Helsinga, Enrichment Consultant made a
very interesting presentation of ways and
means to motivate students and get them to
acquire and use reading and reward) skills.
Several ' parent interviews were also held
during the day.
Attend Louisville farm show
Fled and Brenda Phillips, Ivan and . Gail
Cranston and Ken and Mary' Phillips attended
the Farm Show at Louisville, Kentucky
recently for four days.

Howard Barger of Ladmow, last week Mr.
and Mrs. Barger are former residents of Zion

who is a patient at University Hospital,
London. Willy is improving each day.

Winners at the last card party were Jean
Phillips and Margaret Cranston for the ladies
and Michael Taylor and Ross Errington took
prizesfor the men. Out of six tables of
playrs, Norma Raynard had the most
shoots.

Miller and Helen Todd attended the funeral
of Ann Todd who was the wife of Neely Todd,
when in fact Ann Todd was the wife of Stanley
