The Clan Mackay Association of Canada is a non-political, non-profit and non-sect- arian. organization, whose objects are to promote the general interest of the Clan Mackay in Canada and elsewhere and to - cultivate the spirit of kinship and fellow- ship among the members of the Clan and family of Mackay, throughout Canada and with the parent body of the Clan Mackay Society in Scotland. To collect and preserve all literary, historical and genealogical documents, records and relics relating to the history of the Clan Mackay in Canada and Scotland. /1 The . Chief of. Clan Mackay is The Honourable Hugh William Mackay 14th, Lord Reay, Baronet of Nova Scotia, Baron Mackay of Ophemorton Holland,. succeed- ed .to the title on the 10th of March, 1963, on the death of his father, the Honourable Aeneas Alexander Mackay, 13th, Lord Reay. .He resides now in Holland and spends his time 'between Britain and his Dutch seat at Ophemort. Consent for the formation of the Associa- tion in Canada, was given b'y the council of the Clan Mackay Society in Scotland at their annual general meeting of February 1980. A Centre has . been functioning in Toronto since early 1979 when it was first instigated by Mrs. Edgar who was both encouraged and assisted' by the .Rev: Dr. : Douglas Stewart of St..Andrews Presby- terian Church, Simcoe Street in Toronto. Mrs. Mackay Edgar, who has performed a key' rple in founding this association was also responsible for founding the Highland' Dancer's Association of Ontario in 1949. As well, she is a founding and charter member of the Pipers and Pipe Band.
