PAGE 17. lyth Tykes blast Goderich 9-1 Blyth Overloads win twice m tournament This past Saturday the Blyth Tykes play ed their best game of the season, hard work paid off, as Blyth out-skated Goderich to the score of 9 to 1. Darryl Bromley led the attack, scoring the first goal set up by Matthew Armstrong. Corey Shan- Blyth Tykes spent plenty of time around the Goderich net as they swamped the visitors 9-1 In action at yth and District Community Centre on Saturday morning. Darryl Bromley led the attack with seven goals. On Friday evening Blyth played the Clifford Oldtimers. The teams played to a 5 to 5 tie at the end of regulation time. No one scored in the five-minute sudden death overtime that followed. The team then participated in a shoot-out with Clifford winning. The final score was 6 to 5. Blyth goals were scoredbyLarry Robinson, Gary Courtney, Bruce Bromley, Bryan Black and Bruce Howson. Assists went to Tom Black, three; Jim Dickson, Jim Carter, Jim Button, Tony Van Bakel, Larry Robinson and Harry Wilson . On Saturday, Blyth played Flamboro. Flamboro jumped to an early three goal lead. However, Blythfoughtback and again the game ended in 5 to 5 draw. However at 1:18 of sudden death overtime Bruce Mason’s goal gave the Overloads the victory. Assists went to Gary Court­ ney, three; Bryan Black, two; Jim Button, Jim Dickson and Derwin Carter. In Sunday’s game Blyth played Markdale. Although Markdale was heavily favoured to win, the Blyth team came up with their strongest effort of the year and were rewarded with a 4 to 2 victory. Blyth goals were scored by Bryan Black, three and Terry Rutledge. Assists wenttoTom Black, two; Derwin Carter, Larry Robinson, Gary Courtney and Tony Van Bakel. Harry Wilson and Ron Ritchie shared the goaltending in the Tournament and both turned in outstanding performances. Most Valuable players were selected in each game. Blyth winners were Gary Courtney, Derwin Carter and Bryan Black. Darryl Bromley continued his strong play the next shift netting two more goals, with Jamie Black assisting on both goals. Goderich got back into the game with Ben McLelland netting a boal, stopping Michael Courtney’s poss­ ible shut-out. This goal got Blyth skating once again and Darryl Bromley picked up four straight goals. One assisted by Corey Shannon and one assisted by Jeff Johnston, the last two were unassisted.
