Phone 887-6645 WMS studies Russia Foresters see 'Cousin Clem' Mrs. Jack Knight was hostess for the November meeting of the W.M.S. and 11 ladies attended. The leader, Mrs. Stewart Steiss used the theme ‘‘Remembrance'' for the devotions. The scripture. James 3: 6-18 was read in unison. Two minutes silence was observed in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the wars. Mrs. Leslie Knight introduced the new study on Russia, telling many interesting facts of life there, particularly pertaining to worship and the many problems foreign to us. The minutes and financial report were heard, seven cards and 13 visits were reported. Roll call was a remembrance verse. A brief report on the Fall Conference at Goderich was given by the members who attended. The hymns sung in the meeting were “For the healing of the Nations" and “From Ocean unto Ocean". All repeated the Mizpah Benedic­ tion and lunch and a social time followed. The December meeting will begin with a potluck dinner at the home of Mrs. Stuart Steven­ son. People M rs. Ruth Dinddr and friend, Cambridge, have moved recently to the former Matt Burghardt home. While Don Cotton was plough­ ing on the Stewart Steiss farm on Nov. 9 he found eight balloons firmly tied together which had been released from a school in Milwaukee. For a week students sold balloons for 50 cents each to help raise money for their PT A. Eight students' names were en­ closed in the balloons requesting an answer by whomever found them stating when and where they were found. They had been released on October 1. Court Woodbine M100 Cran­ brook Foresters held their annual banquet and pin night in the Cranbrook Community Centre on Tuesday evening, Nov. 10. A beef dinner was served by Joan Smith and Beth Earl. There were 80 Foresters and families present. Bro. Norm Hill and his wife Jessie, represented High Court from Brantford. Bro. Stan McDon­ ald. High Chaplain was also present. Bro. Norm Hill showed slides on the games for the Physically Disabled which were held at Brantford in August this year and from the fishing trip Wawanosh complaints prompt meeting Wingham Town Council has invited East Wawanosh Township Council to a meeting to discuss complaints registered by some township residents about the town’s landfill site. In a letter to East Wawanosh council signed by six township residents, four specific infractions are alleged: poor maintenance of the site, dumping outside the licensed area, dumping into a stream, and continued burning of sponsored by the Foresters at Great Bear Lake, Northern Sask. Bro. Jim Martin of Atwood was presented with his 25 year Jewel. Donald Vair from Belgrave presented a “Cousin Clem Show" which made the rafters ring with laughter. Mrs. Phyllis Mitchell played several old time numbers on the violin which were much enjoyed by all. The Vanass sisters, Jennifer and Joi and played several num­ bers while the dinner was being served. There was a door prize draw and a table centre went to Bro. Mac McIntosh and second garbage. The letter also calls for the immediate closing of the landfill site. Wingham Town Council is also seeking an explanation from Ontario Provincial Police on a reported “night shoot’’ at the landfill site on October 5, and reported to East Wawanosh coun­ cil by township resident Brian Hallman of RR 5, Wingham.
