$9 million
For the first time in its history,
the Stratford Festival has topped
the $9 million mark for ticket sales
in a single season. At the end of the
business day Sept. 16, the Festi
val’s 1987 box office total for the
season was $9,021,512.
“This has been an excellent
season for us, both the terms of
artistic quality and box office
success,’’ Festival General Mana
ger Gary Thomas said. “It is a
great tribute to the quality of the
acting ensemble put together by
Artistic Director John Neville this
season and the calibre of the
productions themselves."
There are still six weeks remain
ing in the Stratford Festival’s 1987
season with three productions
running in both the Festival and
Avon Theatres. “Cabaret”,
"Othello” and "Much Ado About
Nothing” continue in the Festival
Theatre with “The Cherry Or
