Ken Cousins, Sheila Whitehead wed in Teeswater Mr. and Mrs. Ken Cousins Candles, pink gladioli, carna­ tions and joyful music greeted the guests who gathered to witness the wedding of Sheila Pearl White- head and Kenneth James Cousins on August 22, 1987 at the Teeswater United Church. Rever­ end William Slinn conducted the double ring ceremony. Sheila is the youngest daughter of Pearl Whitehead of Teeswater and the late Everett Whitehead. Ken is the youngest son of John and Merle Cousins of Brussels. The radiant bride was given in marriage by her brother, Stewart Whitehead of Sarnia. She wore a white, satin gown featuring puffed sleeves fitted at the elbow with a wide cuff. The gathered bodice was accented with scattered pearls. Sheila carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses, orchids and ivy. Ken received his bride dressed in formal white jack, black pin­ striped pants and black tie. Matron of honor was Ruth Johnston of Newcastle, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Elaine Page of Toronto, friend of the bride, Gwen Cousins of St. Thomas, sister of the groom and Maureen Beattie of Wingham, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids and matron of honor wore royal blue satin dresses with gathered bodices and full puff sleeves. They carried bou­ quets of pink rubrum lilies, carnations and statice. Attending the groom were best man, Brian Ten Pas of Brussels, and ushers were Doug Cousins of Kitchener, brother of the groom, Brock Whitehead of Teeswater, brother of the bride, and Terry McCutcheon of Brussels, friend of the groom. The gentlemen were attired in black tuxedos with black ties and vests. Instrumental and vocal music was provided by Margaret Cars­ well at the organ, Sheila Anderson of London at the piano and Diane Wall on the flute and trumpet. Vocalists were Janet Horner of Shelburne and Ruth Johnston, sisters of the bride. Selections included “Memories”, “Beginn­ ing Today”, “Canon in D”, Benedictus”, “Endless Love”, and “Walk Hand in Hand.” Guests were invited to the home of Pearl Whitehead for a social hour to view the gifts .Adinnerand reception followed at the Tees­ water Complex. The bride’s moth­ er received guests, wearing a street-length dress of white pleat­ ed crepe with navy accessories and aburgundy orchid corsage. She was assisted by the groom’s mother who chose a pink sheer street length dress with a white orchid corsage. After a short holiday in Northern Ontario, the young couple return­ ed to their home in Brussels. Ken is employed by Ten Pas Construction in Brussels and Sheila is employed in Wingham at Town and Country Homemakers. Hospital Penny Sale begins It’s almost time for the annual Penny Sale sponsored by the Clinton Hospital Auxiliary. Can­ vassers were out approaching businesses and organizations in Clinton, Blyth, and surrounding areas last week, seeking donations for the fund-raising event. Organizers of the event say they hope to raise $7,500, which will go toward furnishing a room in the new obstetrical wing of the hospi­ tal. Donations for this year’s sale will be displayed at the Anglican Church Parish Hall on Rattenbury Street in Clinton from September 17 to the draw date. Each card of tickets costs 50 cents.
