The Citizen, 1987-09-23, Page 5Belgrave School Fair big success The Belgrave, Blyth and Brus­ sels School Fair was officially opened, Sept. 15, by Lana Thomp­ son, last year’s highest point scorer on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Dignitaries who marched be­ hind the Brussels Pipe Band in the parade from the United Church to the arena were Don Pullen, Agriculture Representative; John Elliott, Board of Education; Ernie Snell, Reeve of East Wawanosh; Bob Grasby, Morris Township Representative; Cousin Clem and President of the Fair, Bruce Campbell. All also bought greet­ ings to the students, teachers and friends. They were followed by the students and teachers of Belgrave and Blyth schools and all entrants in the decorated bicycle competi­ tion. There were over 3,000 entires in the fair. The Cambridge Fair baby com­ petition was held recently with 86 babies competing. Tyler Nixon, eight months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nixon, Cambridge, won the seven to 10 months category and was awarded top honours in the boy’s division. Belgrave friends extend congratulations to Glen, Karen and Tyler. Douglas Bieman of Kincardine spent September 13 weekend with his mother Mrs. Agnes Bieman and also visited with his brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bieman and family of RR 2, Lucknow. Mrs. Etta Cook of Maitland Manor, Goderich will be observing her 98th birthday September 24. Belgrave neighbours and friends wish to convey their best wishes to Mrs. Cook. Pat Wilkins and Mr. Karl Veiledal of Waterloo were dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Procter on Sunday, September 20. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby attended the 90th birthday of their aunt Mrs. Hilda Roberts of Lis- towel. About 30 relatives and friends enjoyed a turkey dinner at Vines Turkey Roast.
