At CROPCO, we offer a premium return on your investment through: There is more going on at the Thresher Reunion than just what goes on at the fairgrounds itself. Saturday and Sunday mornings hundreds of people turn out at the Blyth fire hall as the Blyth and District Fire Department puts on a pancake breakfast. Last year more than 700 people found out the firemen can cook as well as put out fires. It was a huge growth over the year before so the firemen are preparing for big things this year. The firemen start preparing about a month ahead, Lieutenant Paul Josling says. Jobs are assign ed to various firemen for various things. Someone has to arrange to get the propane grills and micro wave ovens and other equipment needed. Others are in charge of borrowing chairs and tables from the school and local churches. Others do the shopping for the food. The firemen are ready to serve at 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday andfromthen until 11 a.m. they keep flipping out the pancakes as well as sausage, bacon, orange juice, tea and coffee. Helping out are the wives of some of the firemen. It’s an insurance policy, Lieut. Josling says, just in case there should be a fire call in the middle of the breakfast. In that case one fireman will be left behind to do the cooking and the wives will help with the serving. That’s never happened although it came close acouple of years back. The breakfast had just been finished and the firemen took part in the parade, then got back to the station just in time to answer a fire call. Once breakfast is over, the firemen aren’t through in their duties at the Thresher Reunion. The department’s modern, well- equipped rescue van will be on duty atthethresherreunion in case any emergency assistance is need ed. Last year the crew did answer one emergency as well as helping people with such things as getting grit out of their eyes, Lieut. Josling said. •SOIL ANALYSIS at its best •RECOMMENDATIONS tailor-made for you and your farm •CROP MONITORING on our timely visits •COMPUTERIZED REPORTS of your yearly crop history that give you a head start next year.
