Car show keeps
growing every year
Even those town folk for whom
the old threshing machines may
hold fascination but not memories,
can have their memories stirred
each year by the antique car show
that is a growing part of the Huron
Pioneer Thresher Reunion.
Gordon Radford of Londesboro,
who is easing his way out of
heading that part of the show and
turning over the reins to Bill
Crawford, says that last year about
45 restored cars were part of the
show. The prize winner was an
immaculately restored 1907 Cadil
lac belonging to Burton Pinder of
Mildmay. The show keeps growing
nicely every year, Mr. Radford
says.
The attraction of the cars is love
not money. Mr. Radford says few
people around this part of the
country at least, ever make any
money with antique or classic
(more modern) cars.
He himself got involved in
antique cars about 20 years ago. He
was a licenced mechanic in his
garage in Londesboro so cars were
a natural hobby. He got involved in
the helping at the Thresher
Reunion about 10 years ago.
A trend to more and more classic
cars is leading to some thought
about a special classification being
set up for those, he said.
Whatevertheageofthecars, the
show provides plenty of chances
for people to ooh and ah over these
former queens of the road.
