ACTIVITY CO-ORDINATOR
Thursday, August 27 was a
relatively quiet day at Callander
Nursing Home. Ann Smith enter
tained with her piano playing in the
afternoon, and a few visitors
droppedby. DellaShawcameto
visit Mac and Jack McCutcheon
was in to see Lottie. It was also a
good afternoon for a heated game
of euchre.
Friday is swimming day for one
of our residents. Marion Lether-
land heads for the pool every
Friday and makes like a fish while
the rest of us land lovers struggle
along on dry land. Mary Clark was
in to see Howard. Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Exel were in visiting many
of the residents. Bev Brown came
in and played the piano. Ida
Cooper’s family came to see her
also. The Mennonite Fellowship
was in and had a lovely evening
service.
Lila left for the weekend on
Saturday morning. Millie McFar-
alen was off to her great-niece’s
wedding, all decked out in her
finest attire. Murray Smith was in
to visit Mr. Walter Charles. Mrs.
Aletha Rann had two visitors -
Dianne Hall and her great-grand
daughter Laura dropped by. Jack
Cox was in to see Lillian. Muriel
Garnis also visited with Aletha
Rann. George and Betty McCut
cheon visited with Mrs. Lottie
McCutcheon.
The Mennonite Choir with Alice
Martincame on Sunday to sing.
They all have lovely voices. Jack
McCutcheon was in to see Lottie.
Les Short was in to see Eleanor
Short. Mrs. Rann was out with her
daughter Jane for a nice evening.
Winnie McPhail went to Mitchell
for the afternoon and evening with
her daughter Pat to a birthday
party. She came home pretty tired
so it must have been a good party.
Archer Grewar was out with his
wife Nettie also. Millie McFarlane
got take out for a nice drive in the
afternoon. Howard Clark finally
took his wife Mary out to dinner.
Margaret Smith came to see Lottie
McCutcheon. Della Shaw was in to
check up on her hubby Mac and
make sure he was still on the
straight and narrow. A lovely
large-printNewTestament was
donated to the residents by Ruth
Prapson in memory of Pearl
Stevenson. It was a lovely gesture
and the residents really appreciat
ed it.
Roy and Donna Fischer came to
visit Ethel, and Gordon Grant had a
whole mob in to see him -
Campbell, Faye, Steve, Heather
and Cassandra all came to visit.
Monday, of course, is bingo day
at Callander. Winnie McPhail was
a big winner this time, winning
three out of six games. Ida Cooper
wouldn’t play as she had Joe and
Jim and his wife in to visit. Eileen
Marks came to see Lila Toner. Ken
Charles and his wife were in to see
Walter. Millie McFarlane had Jack
and Marylou Fish in to see her.
Tuesday the gang was off to
homebound in Wingham. Gertie
Daniels was out with her husband
Harvey for a nice drive. Joe Cooper
came to see if Ida was behaving
herself. Barb McCutcheon was in
to see her grandmother, Lottie.
The residents of Callander
would like to welcome Mr. Fred
McPherson to the family. He
began his stay with us last
Thursday and we hope he will be
happy here. His wife Marilyn was
in to visit on Wednesday. Ida
Cooper’s husband Joe was 93 on
Wednesday so they threw a party
for him at the Nursing home so all
of us could join in the celebration.
Archer Grewar’s son Jack and his
wife and Nettie came to visit. Mr.
and Mrs. Heyden came to see
Margaret McBrien and Mary
Bradshaw was in to see her mother,
Winnie McPhail.
The residents of Callander
Nursing Home strongly believe
that summer has not gone and left
us yet and that the cool weather and
changing leaves are only figments
of our imagination. I think we
should listen to them and put our
shorts and t-shirts back on. Maybe
that would bring the warm weather
back to us.
