Ann Smith enter­ tained with her piano playing in the afternoon, and a few visitors droppedby. DellaShawcameto visit Mac and Jack McCutcheon was in to see Lottie. It was also a good afternoon for a heated game of euchre. Friday is swimming day for one of our residents. Marion Lether- land heads for the pool every Friday and makes like a fish while the rest of us land lovers struggle along on dry land. Mary Clark was in to see Howard. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Exel were in visiting many of the residents. Bev Brown came in and played the piano. Ida Cooper’s family came to see her also. The Mennonite Fellowship was in and had a lovely evening service. Lila left for the weekend on Saturday morning. Millie McFar- alen was off to her great-niece’s wedding, all decked out in her finest attire. Murray Smith was in to visit Mr. Walter Charles. Mrs. Aletha Rann had two visitors - Dianne Hall and her great-grand­ daughter Laura dropped by. Jack Cox was in to see Lillian. Muriel Garnis also visited with Aletha Rann. George and Betty McCut­ cheon visited with Mrs. Lottie McCutcheon. The Mennonite Choir with Alice Martincame on Sunday to sing. They all have lovely voices. Jack McCutcheon was in to see Lottie. Les Short was in to see Eleanor Short. Mrs. Rann was out with her daughter Jane for a nice evening. Winnie McPhail went to Mitchell for the afternoon and evening with her daughter Pat to a birthday party. She came home pretty tired so it must have been a good party. Archer Grewar was out with his wife Nettie also. Millie McFarlane got take out for a nice drive in the afternoon. Howard Clark finally took his wife Mary out to dinner. Margaret Smith came to see Lottie McCutcheon. Della Shaw was in to check up on her hubby Mac and make sure he was still on the straight and narrow. A lovely large-printNewTestament was donated to the residents by Ruth Prapson in memory of Pearl Stevenson. It was a lovely gesture and the residents really appreciat­ ed it. Roy and Donna Fischer came to visit Ethel, and Gordon Grant had a whole mob in to see him - Campbell, Faye, Steve, Heather and Cassandra all came to visit. Monday, of course, is bingo day at Callander. Winnie McPhail was a big winner this time, winning three out of six games. Ida Cooper wouldn’t play as she had Joe and Jim and his wife in to visit. Eileen Marks came to see Lila Toner. Ken Charles and his wife were in to see Walter. Millie McFarlane had Jack and Marylou Fish in to see her. Tuesday the gang was off to homebound in Wingham. Gertie Daniels was out with her husband Harvey for a nice drive. Joe Cooper came to see if Ida was behaving herself. Barb McCutcheon was in to see her grandmother, Lottie. The residents of Callander would like to welcome Mr. Fred McPherson to the family. He began his stay with us last Thursday and we hope he will be happy here. His wife Marilyn was in to visit on Wednesday. Ida Cooper’s husband Joe was 93 on Wednesday so they threw a party for him at the Nursing home so all of us could join in the celebration. Archer Grewar’s son Jack and his wife and Nettie came to visit. Mr. and Mrs. Heyden came to see Margaret McBrien and Mary Bradshaw was in to see her mother, Winnie McPhail. The residents of Callander Nursing Home strongly believe that summer has not gone and left us yet and that the cool weather and changing leaves are only figments of our imagination. I think we should listen to them and put our shorts and t-shirts back on. Maybe that would bring the warm weather back to us. A SPECIAL AWARD FOR EXTRA SPECIAL KIDS Some kids seem to stand out in a crowd, They are special Maybe because of the kindness or humanity they show; their hard work; or the exceptional courage they have displayed. Whatever it is they are a shining example to others. Each year, Ontario Community Newspapers Association and Canadian Airlines International hold a competition to honour these extra special kids.
