He said, however, that Huron county is losing out not just on new industry but on some of the industry it already has because the provincial government subsidizes industry to locate in areas of high employ ment. Because people leave Huron tofind jobs if they’re unemployed, we have an unrealistically high employment rate, he said and lose out on industry. He said Huron needs a stronger voice in Queen’s Park to make sure the county gets a better deal. In another development-orient ed subject, Mr. Peters blasted the government for inaction on im provements to Highway 4 between Blyth and Wingham. He said during the visit of Ed Fulton, Minister ofTransportand Com munications, to the area earlier this month, improvements to the road had been listed as “a priority” but there are no plans, no dates announced. If the road really is a priority, he said, “let’s say Highway 4 is going to be fixed by next year at this time.” He also supported the plan for improvements to Highway 8 which would provide passing lanes to improve traffic flow. Who is going tobegrudge the towns of Huron making Highway 8 more efficient if it will help them attract more industry, he said. He attacked Mr. Klopp for being analarmistafter Mr. Klopp had said Huron didn’t need a four-lane highway. Nothing of the kind has been suggested, he said. Mr. Riddell had said he had asked Mr. Fulton to come to look at the Highway 8 situation as well as Highway4. There are problems with highway 8 widening such as a bottleneck in Shakespeare where the road can’t be widened because of a cemetery on one side of the road and another immoveable landmark on the other side of the road. However, he said, the problem is being examined. He said there was no doubt Huron does need a better transportation system to entice more industry into the county. tONDO/V I I 6'2 59 without coupon Proudly Sponsored By Ault fampteilli Ac*dnray£ Coty (“IlGlu Colgate HoitU: .... martin Nestle scan . -AwNtiowis Q) PRIMO Cherry Pepsi, Regular or Diet PEPSI OR 7UP 750ml btl plus dep 6; fl ,99 SpecialO^ rf Half Price bJkO/imission to the Western (Or ___ This voucher is valid September 11 to 20. 1987. for 50‘ oft the rcqular price ol one Adult admission ticket, when presented at the- Western Fair admission gate Limit one adult admission offer per voucher Not valid for Pay-one-Price tickets No cash value Maxwell House Instant Coffee regular 8oz or decaff 6oz ru_- Perrier Mineral water regular 7ooml voucher \ wh.!esupp.er.‘.rt w,;‘lS50.00 order .
