From the Minister's Study THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 1987. PAGE 17. The church's most important resource may be true when it comes to things like the hospital and corporations but it is not always true to when you carry it over into the church. The most important resource any church has is the person of Jesus Christ. Acts4:12 states “Salvation BY REV. BOB BARNHART BLYTH, CHURCH OF GOD In today’s society the bigger, the better seems to be the model. We tend to think that the bigger it is the better it is. For example the larger the hospital the more resources they have to offer. This _ls found in no one else, for there is Debra Anne Higgins and William John Oliver exchanged marriage vows in the Clifford United Church on May 2, 1987. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Higgins and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Oliver of RR 2, Clifford. no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Teaching of salvation through grace is the most important teaching of the church. Whether the church is large or small it can have this teaching. It will be a sad day in the life of a large church whentheysay, “lookwehaveto offer, a large choir, good Christian education program, a nice build ing,” forgetting the most impor tant thing they have to offer is salvation through Jesus Christ. It is also a sad day in the life of a small church when they think they have nothing to offer because they don ’ t have a large choir, good Christian education program, and a nice building. People who compose the church can fall into a similar trap when it comes to their testimony. We hear people tell how Christ marvelously changed their lives from leading a life of crime, or being a murderer, or a drug addict and we are ' thankful for how God changed them. It is good to hear these testimonies and be thankful for them. But, the good moral person has just as much of a testimony as they do. At times we lose sight of this. The focus of any testimony should be Jesus Christ. Let me illustrate what I am trying to say. Suppose you had two friends who were going to the Stanley Cup Playoff and you could not see it. When they returned you talked to them about it. One friend told you about his bad trip getting there, flat tire, radiator overheated, stayed at a bad hotel. You say: “Forget about the trip tell me about the playoff. ’ ’ The second friend told you about the good trip he had, including good motels with pools. You said: “Forget about the trip, tell me about the playoff. ’ ’ The most important thing was the playoff notthe trip. The same is true of a persons testimony. It is not how good or bad you were but the person of Jesus Christ. It takes the same amount of grace to save each person. Whether it is a large or small church the most important person is Jesus. Christ. Whether you were a good or bad person the most important aspect is Jesus Christ. Blyth Christian Reformed Church HIGHWAY 4, BLYTH Rev.
