Mrs. Wilfred Pickell of Vancou­ ver visited over the weekend with Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs.Ronald McBurney and Mr. and Mrs.Ronald Louttit in the loss of their father Willis Fryfogel of Tavistock. Miss Marlene Walsh of Kitchen­ er visited on the weekend with her uncleandauntMr. andMrs. Edgar Wightman. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Ted Moran and family in the loss of his mother Mrs. Jack Moran of Ambleside. An air-band exhibition was part of the inter-school Music Day held at East Wawanosh Public School last Friday, with the top band from EWPS showing off their style to a packed house. The band members are: [front, from left] Micha Hussey, guitar; Matthew Hussey, lead singer; and Brenda White, guitar. At the back are Ian Morton on the synthesizer and Paul McIntosh, drums. For the uninitiated, an air-band is a pantomime done to the recorded sound of a popular rock group. Mr. and Mrs. William Coultes and Alison, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cook and Amy of Belgrave, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Matheson, Lisa and Laura, of Molesworth, Brian Wightman of Auburn, Margaret Larkin of Waterloo and Greg Herron of Guelph, attended the Spring Convocation of Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo on Sunday, May 31, at which time Andrea Coultes received her B.A. in Psychology. The family visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Babensee in Waterloo for a social time and then enjoyed a smorgas­ bord dinner in Elmira. Belgrave UCW hosts guests from other churches The General meeting of the Belgrave U C. W. was held at Knox United Church on May 28 with Mrs. Harold Vincent presiding. Guests from Brussels, Blyth, Whitechurch, Calvin-Brick and the Anglican and Presbyterian church­ es of Belgrave, enjoyed dessert and tea in the Sunday schoolroom before entering the sanctuary of the church for the remainder of the meeting. The worship was conducted by Mrs. William Coultes, Mrs. Doro­ thy Logan, Mrs. Ross Anderson and Mrs. Mabel Wheeler. Each gave short presentation of the involvement of the United Church with countries such as Korea, Zambia and Kenya. The Windsor Mission helps to feed those in need of a meal once a day which is sponsored by the Mission and Service fund of the United Church. Following a short business meeting, Mrs. Janisa Coultes introduced the guest speakers Mr. and Mrs. Ed Whit­ ney of Sauble Beach, who gave a very interesting commentary and slide presentation of their four and a half month stay in Israel in 1985. A map showing the territories that are occupied by Arabs and the land occupied by the Israelis were shown and explained by Mr. Whitney. A person could use ones imagination to go back to the time that Jesus trod in those lands when delight to see. There are seven gates in which to enter the ancient walled city of Jerusalem. There were many more slides of interest that were viewed but the Whit­ ney’s said that just to be there was such a marvelous experience. For the special music, a quartett formed by Mrs. William Coultes, Mrs. George Procter, Mrs. Les Shaw and Mrs. George Johnston sang, “One Day at a Time.” Rev. The club started the meeting by Man charged in Brussels burglaries remanded again in Wingham court The Seaforth-area man facing a number of charges as the result of a rash of break-ins to parked cars in Brussels in late March has been remanded for the second time. Ernest John Nolan of RR 4, Seaforth will appear in Wingham District Court or. June 24 to enter a plea, but before granting the remand Judge Gary Hunter took Mr. Nolantotaskfor nothaving sought legal adv ce prior to his appearance last Wednesday. The accused was to have entered a plea that day, following an earlier remand. “I was going to get a lawyer, but found it was going to be too expensive,” Mr. Noland said. He faces one count of theft over $1,000, four counts of theft under $1,000, and three counts of possession of stolen property. Most of the other cases on the docket May 27 were liquor-related, but Judge Hunter also issued a warrant for the arrest of Kenneth Carl Schellof RR 1, Zurich, as well as a warrant with discretion for Terry Powell of Auburn after both men failed to appear in court. Mr. Schell was remanded in April after being charged with two counts of rustling livestock in north Huron, while Mr. Powell has been charged with one count of public mischief and one count of person­ ating with intent to mislead a police officer after an incident which took place April 3. Johnston of Blyth; Kevin Wheeler of RR 5, Brussels; and Robert Wayne Toa! of RR 1, Bluevale all appeared judging steers and giving reasons for their placings. They then went back to the house and viewed a video tape on marketing, brought by the leader Ken Mawhinney. before Judge Hunter on liquor-re­ lated charges. All were remanded to appear again in Wingham District Court on June 24, except for Mr. Hoggarth, who will appear inGoderich Justiceofthe Peace Court to enter a plea on June 11. Wilhelm Befurt of RR 1, Ethel, was fined $500 after pleading guilty toa charge of possession of a narcotic after a car in which he was a passenger was stopped by an Ontario Provincial Police officer on Robert McIntyre, Reg. He is charged with driving while his license was under suspension, and also with failing to stop for a.police officer. Hilbert Van Ankum of RR 2, Wroxeterwas also remanded to appear again June 24.
