The Citizen, 1987-06-03, Page 11RC Board seeks funding for additions BY WILMA OKE The Huron-Perth County Roman CatholicSeparateSchool Board has authorized its Superintendent of Business and Finance, Jack Lane, to proceed with the board’s request to the Ministry of Educa tion for the new additions to St. Ambrose School in Stratford. The architectural firm of C.A. Ventin of Simcoe was appointed as the board’s architect for St. Ambrose School. The construction includes seven classrooms, a gymnasium and change rooms, a library, staff rooms and offices in the administrative area. The estimated cost of the construction work for the enlarged school is $1.2 million. Mr. Lane said he hoped for ministry approval by the next meeting, June 8 and that the sketch plans would be ready for the board’s last meeting this term on June 22. It was proposed that the board should study the report prepared by the Board’s Accommodation Review Committee in September 1984, and the recommendations proposed by the Community Ac commodation Review Committee based on that report which studied the needs of students in the City of Stratford. Brussels The Board hired Mrs. Normanda Milderley of Stratford to teach half days at St. Patrick’s School at Kinkora, French as a second language, effective September 1. The Board accepted the resigna tion of Lorraine Kingsley who is French Immersion teacher at St. Mary’s School in Goderich, effec tive September 1. She will be replaced by Francine LeBlanc of Ottawa who is presently attending the University of Ottawa. The Board recently set the rates for the secretarial staff in the Huron and Perth County elemen tary schools: minimum, $8.65 per hour; Year 2, $9.00; Year 3, $9.35 per hour; Year 4, $9.70 per hour; and Year 5 (Maximum), $10.05 per hour. The Board contributed $153 to the Stratford Police Force to assist in the cost of the police taking 16 Catholic school patroller and 50 Perth County Board of Education patrollers on an outing to the Pioneer Sportsworld in Kitchener on June 18. The per capita cost is $9.60. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 1987. PAGE 11. First, students were entertained by some air band selections. Then, after a busy noon-hour program of soccer, baseball and just making new friends. Students assembled in the audi torium to enjoy selections from Wingham Public School, Victoria Public School, Goderich and East Wawanosh School. Students from Brussels sang several choir selec tions. All the musical presenta tions were very different from each other as each school does a different kind of music. It was a worthwhile and enjoy able day. Thanks to music teacher Miss Blake and pianist Mrs. Boettcher for the opportunity to participate.
