The third period proved to be the same hectic hockey with the penalty box rarely empty as the referee kept on top of the game. Six minutes into the third period Bill Haines was taken to hospital with what was feared to be a broken arm, and Lucan was assessed a boarding penalty on the play. The Bulls were not able to take advantage of their power play and the scoreless period continued. There was 29 seconds remaining on the clock when Lucan called for an illegal stick measurement on the Bulls and after four measure ments, the referee finally ruled in their favor. Brussels was assessed a two minute penalty. Lucan pulled their goalie and with 17 seconds on the clock scored to tie the game, thus forcing overtime. After a brief rest, the clock was set for 10 minutes and the two teams resumed action. The same strenuous play continued until there was 4:10 left on the clock and Mike Chapman scored in an open corner from linemates Tim Fritz and Blake Flett. Brussels ensured the victory when Mike Chapman came through again on a pass from Marty Rutledge and Rob Cardiff with just 13 seconds left in the overtime period giving the Bulls the 6-4 overtime victory. The Bulls had their backs to the wall, facing elimination and came through with a victory. The same will be true as they return to Lucan on Tuesday for the sixth game of the series, as the Irish lead the series 3-2 in games. The seventh game will be back in Brussels on Thursday night at 8 p.m. (if necessary). The winner of this series will commence against Tavistock on Friday night for the O.H. A. league title. We are happy to report that Bill Haines did not receive a broken arm, but was very badly bruised. It will be a tough week on the players as some of the boys are now involved in college exams.
