Belgrave ACW to host World Day of Prayer The February meeting of the Belgrave Anglican Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. Beth Procter and opened with the president, Mrs. Nancy Jardin, reading the meditation “The Body of Christ.’’ The scripture was read by Mrs. Colleen Madge and the prayers were repeated in unison. The minutes ot the previous meeting were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Jean Nethery. The World Day of Prayer service will be held in the Anglican Church on Friday, March 6 and it was decided to hold a bake sale and rummage sale in the spring. The roll call was answered by eight members reading from the 18thchapterofSt.Johnandthe collection taken. Miss Lillian Potter conducted a study on Africa with reference to a newspaper article of a Canadian teacher who went to Kenya for one year. The program consisted of a sale of crafts, contributed by the members and two verses for Valentine’s Day read by Miss Mary Isabel Nethery. The meeting closed by singing grace and lunch was served by the hostess. RABIES PREVENTION Despite bitter cold, the Belgrave Skating Carnival was a huge success at the local arena last Saturday evening. A large number of prizes were awarded in more than a dozen categories, and skaters from age two to age 60 took part in the fun. Roberts sponsored a very successful Ice Carnival in the Belgrave Arena Saturday evening, February 14. Jim Taylor was in charge of events and the judges for costumes were Mrs. Jim Hunter, Mrs. Ross Higgins and Mrs. Ross Anderson. Prizes were as follows: youngest person to skate by oneself, Laura Meier; best valentine costume, first - Erin and Shannon Cook, second Dawn Dow and third Becky Logan. The best T.V. character was first, Jennifer Black; second, Margie Gordon, third, Michelle Thompson. The funniest costume Sherry Taylor, Sabrena Black, Candice Irwin. Boys 8-10, Jim Puluke, Brent Robinson, (tied) Brandon Coultes and Greg Colqu- houn. In girls 10-12, first went to Janet ward, second, Jody Riley, and third Jennifer Elston; boys 10-12, Jeff Olson, Rob Anderson and Paul McIntosh; girls 13 and over, Maryon Dow, Cathy D.ow; boys 13 and over, ChrisCampbell, Greg Walton, Robert Gordon. The ladies hockey shoot was won by Mrs. Connie Kuc. Following these eVents there was a hockey game between the Belgrave Atoms and the Ringette team with Atoms winning 5-3. her grandmother Mrs. Elizabeth Procter. Miss Sheila Anderson of Water­ loo is spending a few days with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson. Rev. Charles Speakman of Pick­ ering visited with his sister Mrs. Elizabeth Procter on Monday. Miscellaneous costume prizes were: first, Matthew Snow; second, Erica Culbert; third, Cindy Freiburger. The oldest person on skates was Ron McBurney. The largest family on skates was Mr. and Mrs. Ron McBurney and boys. The lucky door prize which was donated by Taylor’s Groceteria was won by Gary Jamieson.
