Hullett councillors get $50 raise for 1987 Hullett Township council has released the list of township appointments and the various rates of remuneration for township personnel as the result of by-laws given third and final readings at the regular council meeting on January 6. Reeve Tom Cunningham, coun­ cillor Ron Gross and Frank Szusz will represent council on the Blyth District Arena Board; Mr. Cunn­ ingham and councillor Harvey Stewart will serve on the Blyth District Fire Area Board; and Tom Leiper will act as representative to the Blyth Cemetery Board. West Wawanosh holds the line on salaries Wages for most salaried person­ nel in West Wawanosh Township have remained at the same levels as in 1986, but hourly rate employees have received a five per cent across-the-board increase during the adoption of the sessions first by-laws on January 6. The honarium paid to the reeve remains at $962 per annum, while the deputy reeve and councillors each receive an annual honorarium of $650. In addition, each council member receives a payment of $50 per regular meeting attended, $35 per committee meeting, and $15 per any other meeting. Wages for the clerk-treasurer were set at $18,963, up from $18,060 in 1986. The road superin­ tendentwill be paid $10.40/hr., up from $9.90; grader operators get $10.05/hr., up from $9.95; and the drainage inspector and building inspector each get $10.10/hr., up from $9.60 in 1986. Councillors Stewart and Robert Szusz will represent the township on the Hullett Recreation Board, along with township representa­ tives George Collins, Frank Szusz, Bill Bromley, Neil Salverda and Marjorie Anderson. Reeve Cunningham and council­ lor Gross will serve on the Auburn Community Hall Board, along with Rhea Hamilton-Seeger, Jim Schneider and Don Schultz. Re­ presentatives from the Auburn Lions Club and the Auburn Women’s Institute have yet to be named. The salary for the Reeve of Rhea Hamilton-Seeger; Blyth Area Fire Board - Councillor Brindley; and West Wawanosh Recreation Committee - council­ lors Hamilton-Seeger and Brind­ ley. In other business, council met with an unscheduled delegation from Chester Finnigan, seeking assistance in draining his proper­ ty. Council told Mr. Finnigin that the drainage superintendent would inspect the site and report back. K. Smart and Associates was authorized to undertake a survey and plan of development in preparation to licensing the ten- acre parcel of land beside the Inglis Landfill Pit; and the site supervisor was authorized to purchase wire and stakes to mark the burning enclosure and trenches. The next regular meeting of council will be held at 9:30 a.m. on February 3. Hullett has been set at $1,650 per annum up from $1,600 in 1986; deputy reeve and councillors will get $1,450 and $1,350 respectively, each up $50 from the previous year. The township clerk-treasurer will receive an annual wage of $25,800, up from $25,000 in 1986. Other rates and remunerations have been approved as follows: assistant clerk-treasurer, $940/hr; road superintendent, $11.35/hr.; grader operators, $10.70/hr.; part time snowplow operator, $7.70/ hr.; drainage superintendent, $7.75/hr.; drainage inspector, $47 per tile loan; Animal control officer, $12 per call, plus 22 cents/km. in travel expenses; livestock evaluator, and fence IS THE HIGH COST OF FLYING GETTING YOU DOWN? George Hoggart has been ap­ pointed as drainage inspector and livestock evaluator; Norm Alexan­ der will be drainage superinten­ dent; Darlene McClinchey will act as animal control officer; and Charles Brandon, Jack Tamblyn, Gordon Daer, Stewart Dale and George Hoggart will serve as fence viewers for 1987. Inotherbusiness, council has accepted a petition for a municipal drain for residents of Auburn, and has instructed the engineering firm of Burnside and Associates to bring in a report on the matter. Clerk Harry Lear was instructed to notify the residents of Londes- boro and Auburn of public meet­ ings to consider upgrading village streets. He was 71 years old. Mr. Neal was born in Goderich Township on May 3,1915to the late Russell and Sarah Catherine (Har­ dy) Neal. On July 25, 1936, he married the former Olive Knox in the Walton United Church manse. Following their marriage, the Neals farmed in Hullett Township ontheBaseline Road, until they moved to Clinton in 1957. As well as farming, Mr. Neal was employ­ ed with Murphy Bus Lines and operated a grader for the Township of Goderich for several years. Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, and son Murray and his wife Irene of Guelph, and granddaughters Catherine and her husband Gary Burgess of Harriston and Lisa Neal at home. He is also survived by one brother, Allan and his wife Yopie, of Clinton. A funeral and committal service were held on January 9 at Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton. Interment was in Clinton Ceme­ tery.
