ALEX HAMILTON Mrs. Alexander Hamilton of Lucknow passed away at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home on Wednes- day, June 22nd in her 89th year. She was the former , Carrie Meadows, daughter of James Meadows and. Martha Jane Grey and was born at Rockwood on September 16, 1888. On September 30, 1914, she married Alexander Hamilton and they were residents of Lucknow for about fifty years. Mr. Hamilton passed away in 1967. The late Mrs. Hamilton is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Hall of Lucknow and Mrs. Douglas (Isobel) Clark of London, five grandchildren and two brothers, Oswald Meadows and Fred Meadows, both of Rockwood. Besides her husband she was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers. The funeral service was held at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel, Lucknow on Saturday, June 25th with Rev. Doug Kaufman of Lucknow United-Church, of which the deceased was a member, as minister. Pallbearers were Harvey Web- ster, Gordon Brooks, Grant Far- rish, Tom Clark, Steven Hall, Murray Moffat. Interment was in Greenhill Cemetery.. John MacDonald, born about 1797 in Scotland, came to Nova Scotia by 1832, to Upper Canada (Westminster near 'London?) by 1839, was a farmer of Kinloss Township, Bruce County, by 1861. He had Catherine (married Robert Hood and buried South Kinloss Presbyterian Church yard in 1872); Mary (married Dr. John H. Wheeldon, came to U.S.); Daniel Cyreneos. Lachlan (a dentist of London), John (a carpenter of -Buffalo, New York, U.S.), Allen, Hugh, ane. Hector. His wife, perhaps named Penelope, was said to have ,been lost in the woods. Who was she? Where was he born and when? William Hood (1817-1888) and wife Eliza Tallman (1823-98) and his brother Robert Hood (came 1829-1906, Seattle. Washington. U.S.) occupied Hood's Corners, near Lucknow. Robert operated a lime kiln, married Catherine Mac- Donald (above), had 13 children. ' Where is Hood's Corners?. James Nelson Sullivan, born in "White Church. Canada" May 14. 1822, son of John Sullivan and Delilah. May (background was Protestant), came to Abington, Mass., U.S.A., by 1849, as a dancing master, was also shoe- maker, served in U.S. Civil War, died 1898. Did he have brothers and sisters? PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT Seated on one of the new pieces of playground equipment installed Kinloss Recreation -On Tuesday, July 5, at the Township , Office in Holyrood, a meeting of Kinloss Recreation Committee was held with Dave Eadie, George McBride, Allan Miller, Bill Gibson, Ann Nicolson and Jure Gilchrist in attendance. Discussions included the future of Holyrood Hall and plans for an open meeting; an appointment of someone from the northern end of BRUCE COUNTY AWARD The Ontario Agricultural College Awards Luncheon was held recent- ly at the University of Guelph. Among the awards to be presented was the Bruce County Graduation Award.
