Card Evening
The Town and Country Club
appreciate the fact that the
Kinsmen held • an evening of
cards for the Senior Citizens
during the Kin Summerfest on
Saturday evening. The card
event was held at the Lucknow
Legion. There were 12 tables for
euchre and 1 table of scrabble.
The winners for the evening
were, high lady, Mrs. Fanny
Wraith; high man, Les Purvis;
low lady, Mrs. Grace Farrish;
low man, John McMurchy.
A lovely lunch was served by
the Kinettes and also prizes
were awarded for cards. A very
enjoyable evening was held by
all present.
THAT
Mrs. Don (Margaret) Camer-
on 61 Lucknow has received
word that she has passed the
exam and successfully complet-
ed the extension course with the
Canadian Hospital Association
in Extended Care Organization
and Management. Mrs. Camer-
on was recently named Director
of Nursing at Pinecrest Manor
Nursing Home, Lucknow.
THAT
Ken Mowbray of Lucknow has
been named mail driver on R. R.
Lucknow succeeding Lloyd
Hunter who 'has operated the
route for the past 21 years.
THAT,
Due to circumstances beyond
the control of the contractor and
the village, commencing of
planned work on the Lucknow
Standpipe had to be postponed
until next Monday, July 11th
from the previously announced
date of July 4. Ropes necessary
for the job were not available at
the required time. Details

Five members of the 1st Luck-:
now Ranger Co. were enrolled last
Wednesday evening by Ranger
Advisor for Silver Birch Area Mrs.
Angus MacLennan of Goderich.
The girls enrolled were Lorna
Boyle, Edith Greer, Barbara Cam-
eron, Kathryn McKim and Susan
Thompson. Their leader Sharon
Campbell was enrolled by Division
Commissioner Mrs. Jack McKim.
District Commissioner Mrs. Don
Thompson p'resented the Rangers
with Silver Jubilee crests.
Kathryn McKim conducted a
service in memory of Lady Baden-
Powell, World Chief Guide and
widow of the founder of the Boy
Scout and Girl Guide movements
who died Saturday, June 25 at a
nursing home near London, Eng-
land.
The meeting was held 'at the
home of Kathryn McKim. The
Rangers served lunch to their
mothers who were guests at the
meeting.
BROOKSIDE
HAPPENINGS
The pupils of all public schools in
Huron County were finished school
on June 24 and took their report
cards home.
The teachers had to attend four
days last week for Professional
Development.
On Monday they gathered at
Clinton Secondary School to hear
two speakers, Dr. McLeod of
Windsor and Mr. Montgomerie
from Toronto. This day was
planned by Teachers Federation.
Ott Tuesday each school planned
its own activities. Some of the
Brookside teachers took a trip to
Toronto to view and purchase
teaching materials for the school.
On Wednesday morning a staff
meeting was held and in the
afternoon some special interest
groups met in Clinton. Thursday
was spent in individual class
organization.
