The Junior Class sang, "As the
christian church was born", was
followed by a skit on the church
symbols with teachers, Mrs. Eve-
lyn Hackett and Mrs. Dona
Campbell. The scripture, Luke 10:
25-37 was read by Heather Gibson,
reading from the Revised Standard
Version of the Bible and Kevin
Alton gave a prayer followed by all

Church Sunday School Awards
Service was held June 19. All
classes participated in the Church
Service.
Frank Alton, superintendent,
gave the call to worship followed by
the hymn, Jesus loves me.
The Primary Class with teachers
Mrs. Marie Barger and Reina
Reurink gave the prayer of
approach followed by the Kinder-
garten class with teachers Mrs.
Shirley Hunter and Mrs. Joan
Helm singing one of their little
songs. The responsive reading,
Psalm 103, was given by the
Primary Junior Class with teachers
Mrs. Honnie Scott and Cheryl
Hackett.
A t Trinity United Church
repeating the Lords Prayer. They
represented the Intermediate Class
with teachers Mrs.. Shirley Hackett
and Mrs. Dora Alton. The hymn,
"Teach me day by day" was sung.
Ian Hackett gave the offertory
prayer representing the Junior
High Class with teachers Mrs.
Mary Lou Raynard and Bill
Wilkins.
The Senior High Class, with
teachers Mrs. Bell Hackett and
Mrs. Suzanne Alton, gave the
sermon in the form of a skit
entitled, "The Man Who Return-
ed". Those participating were
, Susan Irvin, Donna Hackett, Paul 0,
4 Zinn, Jamie Hackett and Jack
% Wilkins. Mary Anne Alton
introduced the skit. This part of
the service was closed with the
hymn, "Take my life".
The presentation of Awards
followed - Dona Campbell present-
ed the Junior Catechism Awards to
Suzanne Alton ,and Brenda Hack-
ett. Shirley Hackett presented the
Intermediate Cate5hism awards.
Those receiving a copy of the
Living Bible were Elizabeth Wilk-
ins, Patti Barger and Kevin Alton.

Mrs. Warren Wylds welcomed
Ashfield Presbyterian Women's
Missionary Society ladies to her
home for their June meeting.
Call to worship was given by
Mrs. Stuart M-cLennan. Hymn
763 was sung and the W.M.S.
purpose was repeated in unison.
Mrs.. Joe Litt had the scripture
taken from Matthew 26: 17-30.
Devotion "Why We Take Com-
munion" and four reasons for
communion was given by. Mrs.
Stuart MacLennan followed by
prayer by Mrs. Litt. Hymn 209 was
sung.
Mrs. Ewan MacLean gave the
biography of Sir William Dawson,
who was born in Pictou, Nova
Scotia. He was a teacher at McGill
University and retired as principal
in 1893. Education was his first
need and duty. Science was also
very important to him, as was
religion. He worked very hard at
the universtiy to have, the buildings
fixed for the needs of the students.
"What Is a Grandmother",
taken from Glad Tidings was given
by Mrs. MacLennan. Mrs. Warren
Wylds told of different trees and
flowers of the bible followed by a
poem "Flowers Go To Church". A
new song Was sung "Go forth and
tell", accompanied by Mrs. Doug
Martyn.
Mrs. Wylds conducted the
business. There is to be a Sunday
School picnic with Ripley and
Ashfield combined at Ashfield
Church June 26 at 12.30 p.m. We
will, visit Pinecrest Nursing Home
at 2 p.m. July 14th. Mrs. Litt gave
the offertory prayer and roll call,
"A flower from the bible" was
answered by 12 ladies and 2
visitors.
Mrs. Ewan MacLean had a
reading from.the Kincardine Inde-
pendent About Miss Veldhuis. who
was the guest speaker' at the
Christian Women's Club. Mrs.,
MacLennan closed the meeting
With prayer.,
Grace was sung, lunch and social
time concluded the evening.

Unit 1 Lucknow United Church
Women held their regular meeting
at the home of Mrs. Grace
Campbell on Tuesday afternoon,
June 7th. Mrs. Chas. McDonald
welcomed' all and opened the
meeting were read and approved.
Seeds". She thanked Mrs.
Campbell for having the meeting in
her home. The hymn "We gave
Thee but Thine own" was sung,
followed by prayer. The roll call,
"an item from the Observer", was
well answered by 17 members
present.
The treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Andrew Ritchie, the total
to date being .$201.30. The U.C.W.
are • still collecting the guarantee
coupons from Monarch, Purity and
Cream of the West flour. The vote
taken on whether to have the fowl
supper in the fall •or not had
resulted in a decided yes vote from
all units.
Mrs. Ada Woods, convener for
Citizenship, mentioned how much
she had enjoyed the choirs at the
Christian Reformed Church. Mrs.
Eldon Henderson gave her usual
good report on community friend-
ship and visiting. Mrs. Russ
Button, convener for Stewardship,
gave a reading on "Love and
sharing with, those less fortunate".
Mrs. Raynard for social functions
made' arrangements for a dinner in
July and Mrs. Beryl Hunter gave a
good report of clothing sent for
supply and welfare.
Unit 1 has been asked to visit
Pinecrest Nursing Home in July
and Mrs. Chas. McDonald and
Mrs. Glen Walden were appointed
to look after this. An invitation was
received from St. Helens U.C.W. to
attend a June tea.
The committee for 'the program, •
were convener Mrs. Raynard
Ackert, Mrs. Eva Freeman, Mrs.
Wes Ritchie and - Mrs. Chas.
Hallam. The devotional was open-
ed by singing the hymn "This is my
Father's world". Mrs. Eva Free-
man read the scripture from The
Songs of Soloman, chapter 2. Mrs.
Wes Ritchie gave a reading, "The
Garden of Our Lives" and Mrs.
Eldon Henderson led in prayer.
Mrs. Raynard Ackert gave a
chapter from the study book,
"Justice Not Charity", on what the
C.I.D.A. (Canadian International
Development Agency) is doing to
distribute aid to the countries in
need. Mrs. Glen Walden gave a
reading "On Being a Father".
A sing song of old •favourite
hymns was enjoyed with Mrs. Wes
Ritchie at the piano. Mrs. Jack
Wraith gave a reading, "Keep
Mum". A very successful hobby
sale was held with Mrs. Russ
Button as auctioneer. Mrs. Ackert
thanked all who helped with the
meeting and after singing grace,
lunch was served by the committee
in charge.

St. Lukes Anglican Church
Women at Pine River held their
June meeting in the Parish Hall in
the evening. Members helped
address the invitations that were
sent out for the 120th anniversary
on July 3rd.
Mrs. Irene Emmerton gave a
reading entitled "Springtime".
Plans were made for a bake sale in
the Parish Hall, also a rummage
sale of good used clothing to- be
held later, July 22nd. Members
attended the Chancel Guild work-
shop in Goderich and the Spring
Deanery meeting which was held
recently in Walkerton. The ladies
are meeting again to clean the
church in June.
The June meeting of Donnybrook
U.C.W. was held at the home of
Mrs. Glen McConnell on Wednes-
day night, June 15th with a good
attendance.
Mrs. Roger Beiman gave the call
•to worship. The, hymn "All things
bright and beautiful" was read in
unison followed with a poem,
"Gods Bounty", by Mrs. Roger
Beiman. Mrs. •Luba Weber gave
the meditation. Mrs. H. Jefferson
read the 23rd Psalm. "Now the day
is over" was' sung, followed with
prayer by Mrs. Beiman.
The collection was taken follow-
ed by the business period with
Mrs. E. Snowden in the chair. The
July meeting will be either a picnic
or hobo tea. A bazaar or bake sale
was discussed.
A social hour followed with Mrs.
Morley Johnston and Mrs. W.
Jefferson assisting the hostess .
