meeting June 16 at the Institute
Hall with a smorgasbord supper at
7 p.m, Come and bring a friend.
The courtesies were by Mrs.
Virdin Mowbray. The National
Anthem and Grace closed the
meeting. The hostess and direct-
ors, Mrs. Bob Gilchrist and Mrs.
Virdin Mowbray served a delicious
lunch.

Doctor Dies
In London
DR. J. D. FORDE
Dr. John Donald Forde died
'suddenly at University Hospital in
London on May 18.
He was born in Vegreville,
Alberta. He graduated from
Queens University in 1941 and had
a private medical practice from
1949 to 1960.
In June 1961 he began work with
the Provincial Department of
Health in Orillia and the Cedar
Springs Hospital. From 1963 to
1964 he took further training at
London Children's Psychiatric In-
stitute in the care of exceptional
children.
Following this training, Dr.
Forde returned to Cedar Springs,
now •known as S. W. Reg. Centre.
He remained there until his
retirement in 1972. ,
In-19`73'Dr; Forde and.. fatn4
took up residence in Goderich
where he returned to his profession
at the Goderich Psychiatric Hospit-
al until it closed in February 1976.
At the time of his death, Dr.
Forde was active on a part-time
basis at the Blnewater Centre.
He is survived by his wife
Elizabeth (MacDonald); three sons,
J. Alex of Edmonton, Peter of
Chatham and David of Goderich;
one daughter, Mrs. K. (Marylin)
De Vine of Halifax; his mother,
Mrs. S. M. Martin of White Rock,
British Columbia and two grand-.
sons.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on
Saturday, May 21 from the
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel in
Lucknow, conducted by the Rev.
Austin Snyder of Central United
Church, Woodstock, with inter-
ment in Lochalsh Cemetery.

Grandmother's
Day'
Grandmothers were entertained .
by the Kairshea Women's Institute
and Mrs.• Farish Moffat of Wing-
ham was hostess for their May 19th
meeting. The president, Mrs.
Evan Keith, welcomed members
and visitors, and opened the
meeting with the reading of a
poem, followed with the Ode and
the Mary Stewrt Collect. The
scripture, Psalth 105 and II
Timothy, were read by Mrs. Virdin
Mowbray as an In Memoriam to the
late Mrs. George Lockhart followed
with prayer by Mrs. Bob Gilchrist.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDOugall read the
correspondence. BusinesS was as
follows: invitation to a Tartan Tea
by Ripley W.I. June 8th, afternoon;
voted that a donation of $16.00 be
sent to the Museum for staffing the
Log House for a day; cancer
canvas amounted to $189.40; a bus
trip is planned for The Erland Lee
Home and other -places of interest
in the Hamilton area. This is June
8th leaving Lucknow 7.45 a.m.; a
paint and cleaning day will be June
14th. Standing committee reports
were given by Mrs. Philip Steer
and Mrs. Gordon Wall.
' Mrs. Bob Gilchrist presided for
the following program - A lively
sing song; Mrs. Wm. Haldenby,
delegate to Officers Conference,
gave an interesting report. Contest
- taking the letters of Grandmother
;around the room and telling
something remembered of your
grandmother beginning with the
particular letter as it came to you.
District annual report was given by.
' Mrs. Cliff Roulston, followed by a
poem, "Grandma can be so gay".
The roll call was answered by
"What I like and dislike about the
old cook stove". The 80th
