80th Birthday-
LANGSIDE NEWS
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Young
attended the family gathering held
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Wallace Richardson of Wingham
on the occasion of his mother, Mrs.
May Richardson's 80th birthday.
The evening was spent playing
crokinole and euchre. Pictures
were taken during the evening and
Mrs. Richardson received many
lovely gifts and birthday wishes for
which she thanked everyone. After
this a smorgasbord lunch was
served, which was delicious.
Guests were present from Wing-
ham, Belgrave, Lucknow, Gorrie,
Ingersoll and Langside. One
daughter, Mrs. Freda Glazier, and
her two sons of Oshawa were not
able to be present. Mr. and Mrs.
Richardson and family farmed for
quite a number of years on the farm
across from Graham Moffat now
owned by Bill Bates.
The First Holyrood Girl Guide
Co. went on a hike last Wednesday
after school. Afterwards they had a
weiner roast at Jim Young's bush.
They all had an enjoyable time.
Robert Bregman Jr. has gone to
Alberta on a student exchange,
where he will work for the 'summer
while Ian McNary of Alberta has
come to spend the summer working
at the farm of Bob Bregman.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to Mr. and Mrs. Midford
Wall and family in the loss of
Midford's sister Ethel, Mrs. Harry
Locking of Clifford. The funeral
service was held in Clifford with
interment in Port Elgin Cemetery
on Tuesday, May 24.
Mr. and Mrs. Hendrik Boss of
Holland, who are visiting relatives
in Canada, visited last Monday,
May 23 with their niece and
nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Bregman and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bongert-
man held a successful auction sale
on Saturday afternoon. The weath-
er was fine abd a good crowd was in
attendance.
The Lucknow Band of about 7S
members went by bus Thursday
morning to play at different schools
in Toronto and Welland returning
Friday evening and Saturday
morning about 54 members of the
band went to London to take part in
the Lions Club parade, returning
Saturday afternoon.
