Information and
Individual Privacy
The Commission on Freedom of Information and Indi-
vidual Privacy by authority vested in it by the Govern-.
ment of Ontario will undertake an enquiry to examine:
Public information practices of other jurisdictions
in order to consider possible changes which are
compatible with the parliamentary traditions of
the Govemment of Ontario and complementary
to the mechanisms that presently exist for the
protection of the rights of individuals;
2. The individual's right of access and appeal in
. relation to the use of Government' information;
3. The categories of Government information which
should be treated as confidential in order to
protect the public interest;
The effectiveness of present procedures for the
disseminatioh of Government information to the .
public;
5. The protection of individual privacy and the .right
of recourse in regard to the use of Government
records.
One aspect of the Study will include the acceptance
of written Briefs and the Receipt of Submissions as well
as a series of public meetings throughout the Province.
Persons or groups wishing to make representations to
the Commission on any aspect of the Study are re-
quested to write to the Counsel, Commission of Freedom
of Information and. Individual Privacy, 444 Waterloo ,
Street, London, Ontario N6B 2P3 or to submit written
Briefs with the undersigned not later than August1,197Z
Public hearings will be held at times and places in
Ontario to be announced later and those' filing Briefs
or letters who wish to appear personally will be advised
as to the time and place when they will be heard.

hospital in London by ambulance
on Friday night., Mrs. Smith went
down with her brother-in-law Mr.
Gamble, of Ripley and is staying a
few days. At last report Mr. Smith
is feeling better. •
Mr. Ross McNee was moved
from Huronview to Goderich Hosp-
ital on Friday and Mrs. McNee is
presently staying with Mr. and
Mrs. Graham McNee.

Visitors last weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Chas. Fowler were Mrs.
Fowler's brother, Gordon Ball of
Morden, Manitoba; her sister Mrs.
C. C. Anderson of Winnipeg; and
Mr. Russell Clifton, also of
Winnipeg. Mrs. Anderson Stayed
all week with the Fowler's, while
Mr. Ball and Mr. Clifton visited
other friends in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jenkin and
two children of • Toronto called on
(nee Marianne Reid) and son
Andrew of Winnipeg called on,
Mrs. Cecil Blake and Mrs. Mary
Bere on Saturday. Marianne was
especially interested to see Mrs.
Bere's house, where she had lived
for some years as a child. Mr. and
Mrs. Roncin were on their way
home from visiting her parents in
Chatham, New Brunswick and
attending her sister Penny's grad-
uation from Dalhousie University.
Mrs. Tim Leishman (nee Mary
Douglas) of Markham, while
spending the weekend in Lucknow,
with members of her family, called
on Mrs. Cecil Blake on Friday
evening.
Harold Stirling of Thamesville
spent a week with his grandparents
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Irvin. Last
Sunday they met Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Stirling at the Pinery and
Harold went home with his
parents.
Mrs. Jean Papernick, Goderich
spent a few days this weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Irvin and
attended the 25th anniversary
dance at Brookside for cousins Mr.
• and Mrs. Leonard , Ritchie.
Soine from here attended the
50th anniversary party at Legion
Hall in Goderich on Saturday for
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hawkins,
This is the season for the tent
capterpillar invasion. Do the town-
ships have any policy for cleaning
their nests out along the roadsides
or is it up to each individual owner?
There seem to be 'a great many
nests flourishing untouched, a
blight on the countryside.
