WEDNESDAY MAY 25. 1977 • PAGE NINE THE LUCKNOW SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ONTARIO Tiffins Celebrate 50th Anniversary WHITCHURCH NEWS The community extends congrat- ulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin, who on Saturday evening celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Whitechurch Community Memorial Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Tiffin welcomed all at the door and many old friends enjoyed meeting those they had not seen for years. Mr. and Mrs. Rhys Pollock of Jdckson- vile, Florida were among these. Tiffin's orchestra supplied music for dancing. Christal Henderson looked after: registration. Lunch was served smorgasbord style: After lunch Mr. and Mrs. Tiffin were called to the platform, and given seats of honour while Mrs. Janet Hall gave words of welcome and read an address to them. They were presented with a box ()fords and money. Both Jean and Wes replied, thanking those who had put on the time for them, all for coming and for their gifts. All sang For They Are Jolly Good Fellows. The chairs were whisked away and dancing resumed during which Paul Laidlaw favoured with a couple of songs. Mr. and Mrs. Bev Kay spent the holiday with Mrs. Kate McLean and other relatiYes in Petrolia. Anniversary services are plan- ned for the United Church June 12 with guest speaker Rev. LeDrew of Brussels. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin of Whitechurch and Sid Paine of Belle Ewart were Sunday evening visit- ors with Mrs. Gertrude Tiffin of Wingham. INJURED HAND Joey Tiffin during the weekend had the misfortune to, accidentally cut his left hand which required several stitches. The community wishes him a speedy recovery. There will be 'no Sunday School held at Chalmer's Presbyterian Church this Sunday as anniversary services are being held with guest speaker Dr. A. L. Farris of Knox College with services at 11 a.m. and 8 p.M. A fellowship hour will be held after the evening service. Mr. and Mrs. Paul. Laidlaw .of Windsor spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and family, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Rutledge and Shawn of Clinton were Saturday evening visitors with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Webster. Holiday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. PRINCIPAL IS GUEST SPEAKER The One Hundred and Thir- teenth Anniversary Services of Chalmer's Presbyterian Church, Whitechurch will be held this Sunday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The guest minister for this special occasion will be The Reverend Professor Allan L. Farris M.A., B.D.,M.Th:,D.D., Principal of Knox College, Toronto. Dr. Farris is a native of Coleville, Saskatchewan, and has served the Presbyterian Church in Canada with distinction as a churchman and scholar. He holds a B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan, an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Toronto; a B.D. and Th.M. from Knox College, Toron-,' to, and has pursued graduate studies at the Universities of Edinburgh, Geneva and Cl-icago. In recognition of his many contribu- tions to the church, Presbyterian College, Montreal, awarded a D.D. in 1973. Jack Johnstone and his mother Mrs. Ella Johnston were fishing near Orillia from' Monday to Thursday, where they caught a nice lot of fish. On the way home they called. on Mr. and Mrs. Ron Elliott of Hillsdale and on 'Mr. and Mrs. Reg Peacock of Thornton. Miss Winnifred Farrier of Toron- to spent the weekend with Mrs. Garnet Farrier and attended the Tiffin anniversary.
