Lucknow Ontario THE LUCKNOW SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ONTARIO PAM TWENTY-FOUR County Group Hold , Meeting In Lucknow The Huron County Municipal Officers' Association met in Luck- now at the-Legion Hall on Thursday of last week. Donald Simpson, clerk-treasurer of Ashfield, was this year's president of the group. About- 130-attendees the -day-long meeting and noon banquet. The group represents appointed and elected officials in Huron County. Elected president for next year is Clare Vincent, clerk-treasurer pf Hullett Township. Joan Arm- strong, clerk-treasurer of West Wawanosh, was appointed to the executive. Speakers included two repres- entatives from the Treasury, Econ- omics and Intergovernmental Af- fairs branch, London. Another speaker talked on the Blair Commission on taxation. FLOWER SHOW CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 yarns. • Mrs. Betty Ackert had a very attractive display of ceramics, including lamps and other , fancy articles. Two completely furnished doll houses, were landscaped with miniature trees and flowers, by" Mrs. Ilene Greer. The stage platform was trans- formed with lovely plants in a great variety of macrame hangers moun- ted- Orr- large- tree branches, -This- display was the work of Doug and Jean Kaufman, Laura Lee Cayley and Mrs. Joe Hilverda. Around the hall were many beautiful macrame hangings, the work of Diane Van Der Wall and some by Mrs. Hugh McWhinney and Faye Hogan. The last table held corn husk, and apple head dolls done by Linda Plante, and decorative cushions by Margaret Grant. During the afternoon and even- ing eighteen house plants were given away as draw prizes. THAT Jack Fisher of Lucknow and Point Clark, who recently retired from. Silverwood Dairies Ltd., was presented with a 39 year service pin by the regional , sales manager, John Cafic of London, at a dinner last week at Turnberry Tavern, Wingham. Also present was Don- ald Peterson, who succeeded Mr. Fisher as sales manager of Lucknow Branch when Jack offic- retired- the-end of-the-year,- THAT ' Lucknow Recreation Committee has named Connie Stevenson in charge of the summer roller skating program with assistants Steve Pritchard and Kathryn McKim. Ripley Lions Aid Minor Hockey By $800 Donation On Wednesday, May 11, the Ripley and District Lions held a supper meeting in the Presbyterian Church Sunday School room. President Bob Fair called the meeting to order. Gerry Crooks led the sing song. Three Tiverton Lions made a club visit. They included Zone Chairman Frank Mahoffy, Roger Paquin and Paul Duguay. Secretary Frank Van Kooten read the correspondence. A finan- cial report was given by treasurer Bernie Twolen. Harry Coiling announced that the next club bingo would have a new jackpot of $150 on 56 calls. Past president Bill Kempton inducted Blain Carruthers as a new Lions member. Blain was sponsor- ed by Lion Scotty Regier. Lion Gerry was called upon to thank the ladies for the delicious supper. It was agreed to make a donation of $100. to the District A-9 Hearing Disability Program. A donation of $800. was made to cover Minor Hockey bus transportation expen- WEDNESDAY, MAY 18, 1 SCHNEIDER'S ses. Roger Paquin reported that 3 District A-9 Scrapbook was bein compiled. Copies will be mad available to all Lions in the nea future. Secretary Frank stated that th Scouters' Dance was very success ful. The winner of the Chinese Auction was Scotty Regier. The next supper meeting will b held on Wednesday, May 25 at th Reids' Corners Hall. Jr. Farmers Assist Fair At the May meeting of the Wes Huron Junior Farmers, many new ideas for a community project wer discussed. One event they will bc, helping at will be the Lucknow Fa Fair. They are sponsoring a whee barrow race, with real whee barrows and two people, and 4 grLasy pole climb. A girls' baseball team is being organized. Any Junior Farmerl member wanting to • join cal 529-7205. . Junior Farmer committee mem , bers are reminded of the full committee meeting on May 24th at, 8.30 at Mel Ritchie's. Next meeting will be changed to June 20th, 8.15 sharp, at Brookside School.
