The May meeting of the Lucknow
Women's Institute was held in the
Assembly Roam- tor Tuesday.; -May
10th with 21 members present.
The Institute Grace was sung
and the hostesses served a
delicious dessert. The meeting
opened with the Opening Ode and
the Mary Stewart Collect.
The president, Mrs. Mary Mac-
Gillivray opened the meeting with .a
suitable poem on Gardening and
welcomed all present. The minutes
of the April meeting and report on
the Executive meeting were read
and approved. The treasurer's
report was read. Arrangements
were made for two delegates to
attend the 80th anniversary of the
Federated Women's Institute of
Ontario to be held in Kitchener on
July 13th. A committee was
appointed to help the Junior
Instipte with their Tea on June
1 ltif.
qrs. MacNay thanked those who
attended and also who donated
cookies to the Brucelea Haven Tea.
Plans were discussed concerning a
bus trip scheduled for June 21st.

On Tuesday, May 10, our girl's
occer team will travel to Kincard-
inc -to-compete in. a. soccer tourna-
ment. The three teams entered' are
Ripley, Kincardine and Sacred
Heart. The members from Ripley's
. team are Jane Messenger, Denise
Huber, Donna Huber, Laurie
Coiling, Karen 'McGarvey, Cheryl
McGarvey, Corinne Boyle, Susan
Dawson, Ann Courtney, Mary
Kempton, Mary Jane Courtney,
Heather MacDonald and Karen
Lowry. We wish them good luck in
the tournament.
ELEMENTARY NEWS
CONSTABLE GAELOR
On May 3 Constable Gaelor came
to visit the elementary students at
Ripley District School to talk again
about bicycle safety. He explained
that now charges can be laid if you
are not riding your bicycle proper-
ly. He also spoke to us about our
annual bike rodeo to be held on
May 20., It involves a test of your
ability to ride a bike and a written
test. If you want to get involved in
this get your bike to school anyway
you can on May 20.

stration on Making Corsages
suitable for Mother's Day. The
meeting closed with the Royal
Anthem.
SOUTH KINLOSS
Mr. and Mrs. Mearle Middleton
of Burlington visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon on Sun-
day.
Visitors over the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Needham were
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Buchanan of
Owen Sound and Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Marshall and Nora Zora of London.
Mrs. Florence Golden of Allan
Park, Michigan visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall on the
weekend.
EIGHT MONTH HOLIDAY
Anne Graham returned home
after an 8 month trip to England,
Europe, Egypt, India, Nepal,
Singapore, Malaysia and Russia.
She says it was sure a very
interesting holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey MacDoug-
all of Bayfield visited over the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
MacDougall,and Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Needham.
Rennie Graham of Toronto and
Dorothy MacKenzie of Teeswater
were visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Graham.
PLANS PROCEED FOR
GREY OX MEMORIAL
Twenty-four former pupils and
interested friends attended the 2nd
meeting of the Grey Ox Interests at
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Needham's on
Saturday. A committee was
formed and plans were made to
erect a cairn at the Grey Ox hill.
Bruce Crown
Attorney Retires
George Paterson, Crown Attorn-
ey for Bruce County for the last
eleven years, retired from that
position as of April 30th.
No one has yet been named Mr.
Paterson's successor.
A native of Hanover, where he
practised law before his appoint-
