Helens Lady Died In 66th Year MRS. ARTHUR WOODCOCK Mrs. Arthur Woodcock of St. Helens, formerly Caroline E. A. (Ball) Palmer,. passed away at University Hospital, London on Wednesday, February 23rd in her 66th year. She is survived by her husband Arthur Woodcock of St. Helens; one son Samuel Palmer of London and one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Joyce) Argyle of Stratford; two brothers Albert and Harry Ball, both of Toronto and three grand- children Lynne, Laura and Frank. The funeral and committal service was held at the Needham Memorial Chapel, Landau on Saturday, February 26th. Rev. John. H. Marshall of Chalmers Presbyterian Church officiated. Cremation followed in • Mount Pleasant Crematorium. Interment of ashes will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. BROOKSIDE BROOKSIDE HAPPENINGS Hockey games have been the order of the day' this week at Brookside. The boys finished their season's series with the following games Thunderbolts 2, Chargers 1; Wednesday's final game Thunder- bolts 6, Knights 7. The Knights are the winners of the series. The Senior Girls All Star Team lost against the Ripley team on Monday night, by a score of 3-2. Girls play again tonight (Friday) and a final game Tuesday night.' On Thursday and Friday of this week we had a very interesting speaker at the school in the person of Mrs. Shirley Keller, editor of the Goderich Signal Star. She spoke to the students of Grades 7 and 8. She also visited classrooms and answer- ed questions about getting out the newspaper each week. ZION Mi. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins went Wednesday to Ridgetown to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reynolds and attended review day on Thursday at Ridgetown College where their son Larry attends. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Helm and his sister, Roberta, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Whytock of Lucknow spent part of the weekend in London shopping and visiting their brother, Grant Helm of London. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kirkland, accompanied by their daughter Nancy, Mrs. Gordon Folkard and Mr. Folkard of Belgrave, went Friday evening to their son's, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kirkland of Milton. Mrs. Kirkland remained for a visit, while the rest went on Saturday to the quarterama Colis- eum in Toronto. Mrs. Kirkland called on Mrs. Mary McAuley in the nursing home in Milton. Mr. and Mrs. John Hunter family had Norman Shiells of Hensall drop in to visit on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Cook and family visited her sister Lorraine Hamilton of Lucknow and also her sister, Raeleen, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Campbell and family of London at the Hamilton home. Douglas Hackett travelled by bus from Clinton Friday evening to Wheeling, West Virginia returning home Sunday evening. One of the highlights was attending the Grey- hound races, watching his Grey- hound run. RIPLEY HURON CENTRAL GRADE ONE Bradley Stanley, Shawn Flem- ing, Billy Patterson, Larry Reid, Blair Scott, Vincent Wright, Tony THE GREY BRUCE ARTS' COUNCIL Pollock, David Hodgins, Stacey Dahmer, Kern Paquette, Shelly Gamble, John Bak and Suzanne. Bell were the Grade One boys and girls who participated in the Skate-A-Thon on Saturday. Many of the children skated the twelve hours. Congratulations to those who stayed with it to the bitter end. Pledges are being collected this week through the school. HOME AND SCHOOL GROUP MEETING The Home and School Group held a meeting at the Ripley Public School on Tuesday, March 8. The guest speaker was Miss Ina Mary Rutherford, the Primary Supervisor for the Bruce County Board of Education. Died In Calgary At Age 56 MISS ELAINE BEATON Miss Elaine Sarah Katherine Beaton, aged 56 ;rears, of 2418 - 54th Ave. S.W., Calgary, Alberta passed away in Calgary on February 3rd, 1977. She was born in Prospect Valley, Alberta on November 20, 1920, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Beaton. Miss Beaton is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Beaton and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Beaton, both of Calgary. She was predeceased by her father Samuel Beaton in 1972, her brother, Lester Beaton in 1965 and her niece, Patricia Beaton, in 1968. The funeral service was held at The Garden _ Chapel (Foster's Funeral Home) on Saturday, Feb- ruary 5th. Interment was in Queen's Park Cemetery, Calgary. The late Miss Beaton's mother, Mrs. Sam Beaton, who is 95 years of age, is a cousin of Wm. F. MacDonald, Lucknow and Leonard MacInnes, R. R. 5 Lucknow. She has kept a keen interest in Lucknow through the Sentinel, being a subscriber for some time. These events are arranged for Artsfest '77 through the Festival Ontario program of the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Recrea- tion.
