KINGSBRIDGE
Sincere sympathy is extended to
the family and relatives of Herman
Phillips, formerly of Ashfield
Township, who, passed away in the
Wingham and District General
Hospital on Wednesday, January
26 in his 88th year. Funeral
services were held at the MacKen-
zie Funeral Chapel, Lucknow on
Friday, January 28th at 2 p.m. with
Reverend Douglas Kaufman offici-
ating. Temporary entombment
was in the' South Kinloss Mauso-
leum.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
John Maize on the birth of a baby
boy in the Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital, Goderich on
Friday, January 28th.
DIED SUDDENLY
This area was shocked to hear of
the sudden passing of Mrs. Bruce
Vardon of Mount Clemens, Michi-
gan on Thursday, February 3rd in
her 48th year. Mrs. Vardon was
the former Noreen Drennan of
Ashfield Township. Her body
rested at the Will Schwarzkoff
Funeral Home in Mount Clemens,
Michigan, until Monday, February
7th where funeral services were
held. , Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Drennan and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Collinson went to Mount Clemens
an Saturday to attend the wake and
the funeral. Mr. and Mrs.' Bryan
(Jean Drennan) Black; Mr. and
Mrs. George Collinson, Mr. and
Mrs. Doug MacDonald (Marlene
Drennan), Gordon Drennan, Kathy
Foran, Ann Drennan, Jim Collin-
son, Jeannie Wraith, Eric Dren-
nan, Jane Collinson, Donna Dren-
nan, Debbie Drennan, visited the
funeral home on Sunday. Sym-
pathy is extended to the relatives
and many friends.
Mrs. Stephanie Vogt was taken
to the Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital, Goderich on
Wednesday, February 2nd by the
Department of Highway truck
driven by Mr. Frank Doherty.
Surgery was performed on the
following Friday afternoon. Her
many friends wish her a 'speedy
recovery.
Tim Hunter of Galt was storm-
stayed in this area for a few days
last week and walked over the
drifts to visit his former neigh-
bours, treating the gentleman with
cigars on the occasion of the arrival
of a baby daughter earlier in
January. Congratulations.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sinnett and
daughters of Detroit, Michigan
spent this past weekend at the
home of his brother, Mr. and Mrs.
James Sinnett and family. They
had attempted the trip last week
but were stormstayed in Strathroy.
They returned to Detroit as 'goon as •
the weather cleared and the roads
back there were passable.
Ben, Len and Marianne Milten-
burg, family of Mr. and Mrs. John
Miltenburg, who are attending
University of Guelph, spent this
past weekend at their home here.
Miss Frances Logtenburg, Uni-
versity of Guelph, • spent the
weekend at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Derk Log-
tenburg and family.
Bert McWhinney was admitted
to the ,Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital, Goderich on
Friday, January 28. .We wish him a
speedy recovery.
Schools have re-opened on
Monday., February 7th following
the holidays caused by the storms.
Events to have taken place at St.
Joseph's School, Kingsbridge have
been re-scheduled. The Garvey
Public School, Speaking competi-
tions which were to be held on
Friday, January 28th will now be
held on Friday, February 11th at 1
p.m. The following students have
been chosen to compete: Grade 5,
Stephen Hickey, Betty Jane Foran,
John LaLonde; Grade 6, Brent
VanOsch, Liz Vogt; Patrick Foran,
Lisa Frayne and Heather Ann
Stapleton; 'Grade 7, Jackie Dalton,
Kathleen Foran, Colleen Foran,
Rose Marie O'Keefe and Annie
VanDiepan; Grade 8, Dean Doher-
ty, Debbie Austin and Floyd

On February 17, 1977, Public
Speaking at the Zone Level will be
held at St. Mary's School, Goder-
ich.
On Monday afternoon, February
7th Mr. Seaman from the Goderich
District Collegiate Institute Guid-
ance Department spoke to • the
Grade 8 students at St. Joseph's
School, Kingsbridge.
The Grade 8 students are invited
to attend a dance in Kincardine at .
St. Anthony's School on Friday.
February 11 from 7.30 to 10.30
p.m. Admission is 50c.
Christopher MacDonald, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Doiig MacDonald, is
able to be home following a lengthy
stay at the Wingham and District
Hospital.
Mrs. Cliff "(Joan) Livingston, a
patient in Victoria Hospital • in
London for 11 days following
surgery, was able to return to her
home here on Friday, January 21.
Her mother, Mrs. Karl Cameron,
has been helping at the Livingston
home for the past four weeks and
returned to her home in Owen
Sound' on Saturday, February 5.
ST. HELENS
The big news for the past weeks
has been the snow. Thanks to the
township employees, and farmers
with snowblowers, some of this
snow is finally being blown away.
The snow has kept many people
from travelling any great distance
in the event that they become
stormstayed.
Sympathy is extended to Shirley
Clark and her family on the passing
of her father, Robert Buchanan of
Kirkland Lake. The late Mr.
Buchanan is a former West
Wawanosh resident. Following the
funeral on January 30, Mrs. Clark's
family was delayed from returning
home for several. days due to the
poor weather conditions.
Donald McDonald celebrated his
25th birthday on Sunday, February
6. Congratulations.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Angus McDonald were their
grandchildren, Paul, Patricia and
Christopher McDonald, all of
Ashfield Township.
Mrs. Sadie Barbour is a patient
in the K-W Hospital, Kitchener,
recovering from an eye operation.
Get well wishes are sent her way.
Weekend %.'sitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Todd were Mr. and
Mrs. John Bick of Scarborough and
Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Vander Hulst of
Barrie.
Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs
Ross Errington were Mr. and Mrs.
Norris Wilson of Stoney Creek and
Bill Wareing, also of Stoney Creek.
ST. HELENS SNOWMOBILE
CLUB
Eleven snowmobiles attempted a
trail run on Friday night. Mr. and
Mrs. Rick Park had their machine
break down on the way to the
snowmobile club house and once on
the trail Ross Errington had his
new snowmobile break down. With
everyone doubling up on available
machines the members continued
on the trail without further
incident. A hot lunch of macaroni
and cheese was served to the cold
travellers. The next trail ride is
February 18, with the Poker Rally
to follow on Sunday, February 20.
SOUTH KINLOSS
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Clark,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clark and Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Gibson, recently
attended the funeral of their uncle
Jack Clark of Lambeth.
