We wish to welcome three new residents to our home this month, namely, Miss Margaret Ann Mc- ' Lennan of Glamis, Mr.. Joseph Kraemer' of Teeswater and Mr. Wilford Dippel of Walkerton. Our Residents Council met on January 4th at 10.30 a.m. in the tuck shop area. There were fourteen present with quite a bit of business to be discussed. Mrs. Jennie Robb gave an interesting reading and each one expressed the desire for better weather. We had two *movies in January, one on Wednesday, January 12th and the other on' Wednesday, January 26th. They proved both interesting and informative. We also held four bingos and five euchres ourselves during the month and had excellent turnouts for them all. We also have four ladies that play bridge together and four men that play solo almost every day. The C.W.L.' held their monthly euchre on January 13th with Mrs. Wm. Farrell and Teddy Ellis winning the high prizes, and Bessie McArthur and Gordon Brown the low prizes. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion _came on Friday, January 14th and put on their monthly bingo. Mrs. Mary Cassidy called the numbers and Mrs. Verna Clancy and helpers served a delicious lunch. The Happy Heirts Club of Ripley sponsored the monthly birthday party on January 25th. There were six residents with birthdays during the month of January. Reg. Moore was M.C. for the program and Mrs. Violet MacKenzie was the pianist. Gladys 'Arnold gave the presidents remarks and Reg Moore led in a lively sing song. Mrs. Anne McCosh gave a humourous reading followed by several Scotch violin selections by Jack Scott. Next was a skit "School Days" directed by Mrs. Violet MacKenzie. Those taking part were Florence Kirkpat- rick, Mary D. MacDonald, Reg Godfrey, 'Mary J. A. MacDonald, Gladys Arnold, Reg Moore and Mrs. Violet MacKenzie. It was very very comical and our residents enjoyed it thoroughly. Rev. Jim Bushell of the United Church Ripley sang two beautiful solos .and Anne McCosh gave another Scot- tish reading. The birthday resid- ents were brought to the front and res nted with a suitable gift. The ies served birthday cake and ice cream to bring 'to a close a most enjoyable afternoon. Many thanks to the Happy Hearts Club. Our ministers for the month were the Salvation Army, Capt McAllister, Hanover; Rev. D. Sinclair, Baptist, Hanover; Rev. J. Dookram, Trinity Lutheran, Walkerton; Communion Service was also held by the Walkerton ministers. Rev. Ferris of St. Thos.
