Auxiliary. Held
Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the
Auxiliary to the Wingham and
District Hospital was held in the
R.N.A. Training Centre, Monday,
January 24 at 6:15 p.m. Mrs. Don
Vair said the Grace and a delicious
pot luck supper was enjoyed by all
present.
The meeting opened at 8:00 p.m.
President Mrs. Ross Proctor wel-
comed all present and asked each
lady to stand and introduce herself.
The Auxiliary prayer was given by
the President. Minutes of Novem-
ber meeting and two executive
meetings were read by Mrs. J.
Gnay, secretary.
Mrs. Proctor reported on the gift
to the hospital New Year's baby, of
a white hand made set, which she
presented to Elaine Armstrong,
infant daughter, of Mr. and Mrs.
Mac Armstrong, R. R. 2 Teeswat-
er.
Plans for the spring luncheon to
be held June 27th were discussed.
The spring conference this year will
be held in South Waterloo Memor-
ial 'Hospital, Cambridge on April
25. The Wingham Hospital
Auxiliary are requested to send six
coloured slides depicting highlights
of the work for our hospital. Several
ideas \were suggested among these
the work of the Cancer Clinic, the
Candy Stripers, the Gift Case, Book
Cart and others, as these present
the various endeavours of the
Auxiliary. The slides , will be used
at the spring conference and then
incorporated with those of the other
hospitals in the district for a
presentation at the annual conven-
tion of Ontario Hospital Auxiliar-
ies.
Annual reports were given -
secretary's report Mrs. John Gnay;
cancer clinic, Mrs. Geo. Michie;
gift case, Mrs. W. Forsyth;
hospital bridge, Mrs. W. A.
McKibbon; candy stripers, Mrs.
W. Connell; membership, Mrs. R.
Koffman; tray favors, Mrs. Don
Vair; social, Mrs. J. Wilson;
Correspondence, Mrs. Bob Ahara.
Treasurer's report was read by
Mrs. Gnay in the absence of Mrs.
Wilf Caslick. A presentation was
made to Mrs. W. Forsyth by Mrs.
Bob Ahara, as she is retiring as gift
case convener, in appreciation of
her time and efforts given to
promote this service over the past
four years.
The report of the nominating
committee was read and adopted.
Mrs. Robt. Ritter then installed
Mrs. Bob Ahara, 2nd vice presid-
ent and Mrs. H. English, gift case
convener.. All other officers are
continuing the 2nd year of their
term of office. Membership report
was 70 paid up members and one
Life Member. In reporting on tray
favors Mrs. Vair noted that over
1100 favors had been made for the
many special days during the year
and placed on patient trays and for
meals-on-wheels. Discussion re-
garding a spring rummage sale
followed. As there have been a
quantity of items donated by the
hospital, a spring auction sale will
be held this year, instead of a
rummage sale. A lovely quilt of
Butterfly design has been complet-
ed by Mrs. Vair. A delightful extra
large stuffed dog has been donated
and it was decided to give this to
the R.N.A. Training Class for a
money raising project for the girls.
The new gift case committee will
be Mrs. H. English, convener;
Mrs. L. Grove, books; Mrs. R. Rit-
ter, purchase wool; Mrs. W. For-
syth, in charge of letters; Mrs. J.
Goodall, phone committee. As the
auxiliary covers a large area
outside Wingham, notices and
write ups are now to be sent to
Teeswater News, Lucknow Sentin-
el, Brussels Post as- well as
Wingham Advance Times.
Through this medium it is hoped to
interest others and increase our
membership. People in these
towns come to our hospital and are
most welcome to join the auxiliary.
The work of the auxiliary assists in
a small way to provide equipment
for the hospital not covered in their
budget but needed for patient care.
The Ambulift chair purchased this,
year is one example of helping
patient and staff. There are many
others on the list of requirements-
suggested. Volunteers are also
needed to staff our gift case in the
hospital lobby. if you can help, join
our auxiliary - there is a job for
everybody.
The meeting adjourned and all
present were glad the weather had
co-operated.
