Due to increased costs to the Lucknow Hydro System for power
'supplied by Ontario Hydro, materials and supplies used in line
construction, 'operation and maintenance, expansion and growth,
salaries and wages, it. has become necessary to increase the hydro
rates to ,ou, the customer.
The new rates will become effective on all bills' issued on and after
March 1, 1977.

FEBRUARY 1967
A valuable public service to the
Lucknow District ended on January
31, when J. M. "Mel" Greer of
Lucknow resigned as local weather
recorder for the meteorological
division• of the Department of
Transport. For the previous
thirty-four years Mr. Greer had
recorded the weather daily in this
area and had never missed a
monthly report to the department
in those thirty-four years. At no
time did he receive any payment
for performing this public service.
The two-story frame house of
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Walden of. the
2nd concession of Huron Township
was levelled by fire.
30 YEARS AGO
FEBRUARY 1947
Mrs.. Allan Grant and her four
year old son Larry of Ashfield
Township and William Johnston of
Kinloss Township were victims of a
railway crossing crash near Kincar-
dine. Another passenger in the
car, who was seriously injured in
the accident was Miss Marjorie
Williams, a sister of Mrs. Grant's.
At the 81st annual meeting of the
Lucknow Agricultural Society Wal-
lace Miller was elected president.
He succeeded John Farrish, who
had served in that office for four
years. Joseph Agnew completed
his 36th year as secretary-treasurer
and was re-appointed for another
term.
Mr. Agnew also held a record of
municipal service had to equal.
For forty years he held the
position of clerk of the village and
for 39 years held the dual office of
clerk and treasurer. Mr. Agnew
was appointed clerk on February 5,
1907. J. G. Anderson was reeve
and councillors were Joynt, Earls,
Lawrence and Mitchell.
