Season Highlight
Lucknow Community Christmas
Carolfest, missed in the reports of
the Christmas Sentinel because of
an early publication schedule,•
deserves a word of mention, late as
it is.
The Christmas musical concert,
which has become 'a highlight of
the Christmas season, was co-
ordinated by Mrs. Allan Johnson of
Lucknow and featured vocal selec-
tions, by sev,eral church choirs, St.
Peter's Anglican Church, Lucknow
Presbyterian Church, Lucknow Un-
ited Church, South Kinloss Presby-
terian Church and South Kinloss
Young People's Choir, St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Church Choir,
Kingsbridge and Lucknow Christ-
ian Reformed Church Joyful Voic-
es.
Instrumental , selections were
provided throughout the evening
by Lucknow Concert Band under
the direction of Gordon Cayley. The
Lucknow United. Church was filled
to capacity for the presentation.

Gawley of Ripley, who passed away
suddenly in London. 'The funeral
was held on Wednesday afternoon
at the MacLennan-McCreath funer-
al Home at Ripley.

$34,000 Grant
For Falls
Conservation Area
A $34,000 Ontario grant will be
provided to the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority for capital
development work in the Falls
Reserve Conservation Area, Natur-
al Resources Minister Leo Bernier
has announced.
Falls Reserve Conservation Area
comprises 229 acres and is situated
on the Maitland River about four
miles from Goderich and adjacent
to Benmiller in Colborne Township,
Huron County.
Development work will include a
new campground, fishing pond,
road paving, bridge construction,
washroom and hydro facilities and
expansion of the picnic 'area.
The conservation area . offers a
wide variety of landscapes includ-
ing a waterfall on the Maitland
River and is being devel9ped for
multi-purpose use.
A pretty fall wedding, in the
United Church Lucknow, on Octob-
er 23, 1976, united Barbara
Wilkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Wilkins, Ashfield, and Jim
Sheppard, son of Mr. and Mrs.
James Sheppard, Cambridge, in a
double ring ceremony.
Rev. Albert Cook, Trinity Ash-
field, officiated, assisted by Rev.
Doug Kaufman, Lucknow.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a dress of winter
white acrylan knit. Her dress,
headdress and train were all
trimmed with lace and she carried a
sheath of white, yelloW and rust
carnations.
Maid of honour was Mary
Schkura, Walkerton, and brides-
maids were Mrs. Barbie Sansotta,
Stratford, and Linda Mason, Five
Oaks, Paris, all friends of the bride.
Junior bridesmaids were Janet and
Elizabeth Wilkins, sisters of the
bride. They all wore identical
floor-length gowns of gold floral
acrylan and carried sheaths of rust,
yellow and white carnations.
Flower girl was Jackie Rathwell,
Lucknow, dressed similar to the
bridesmaids and she carried a
white basket of dried strawflowers.
The groomsman was Doug
Waldeck, Cambridge and . ushers
were Kerry Little and Bill Verheyn.
Cambridge, all friends of the
groom. The groom and his
attendants wore brown tuxedos
with yellow carnation boutonnier-
es. Ring bearer was Kenny
Wilkins .and door attendants were
Larry and Jack Wilkins, all
brothers of the bride.
The bride's mother wore a
floor-length rust gown with match-
ing jacket. The groom's mother
wore a pink floral floor-length gown
with a white shawl.
Mrs. Fran Elphick, cousin of the
bride, made dried strawflower
corsages for the' mothers, the
bride's grandmothers, Mrs. W.
Irwin, Kinloss, Mrs. F. Wilkins,
Ashfield; the groom's grandmother
Mrs. A. Shank, Cambridge; the
bride's great aunts, Mrs. Ethel
Carl, Toronto; Mrs. Emma Hud-
son, Brussels and Mrs. Wesly
Alton, London; her great great
aunt, Mrs. Selina Hunter, Luck-
now; also Mrs. Cecil Johnston,
Sarnia, and the organist and
soloist.
Before the wedding, guests
enjoyed music on the autoharp by
Mr. Brian Jackson, Brantford.
Soloist was Mrs. Isabel Plant,
Kitchener. Both were accompan-
ied by the organist, 'Anne Marie
Walsh, Toronto.
The wedding reception was held
at Brookside School, which had
been fittingly decorated with real
maple trees and maple leaf table
decorations by Herb and Marie
Wilkins, uncle and aunt of the
bride. Bill Wilkins, brother of the
bride, was master of ceremonies;
and Eldon Mann. Lucknow, pro-
posed the toast to the bride.
A Scottish tradition, the presen-
tation to the bride of a "good luck"
silver horseshoe (brought from
Scotland by the bride's parents)
was made by 4-year-old Gerald
