Among the relatives attending
the wedding of Rosemary Rothwell

Mr. and Mrs. Spence Irwin,
Lucknow, spent two weeks during
the holiday season at the home of
their granddaughter Audrey and
Gary Faskin and family, who live
about thirty miles north of Sault
Ste. Marie.
"Kathleen Leddy, London spent a
few days at the home of her parents

Lucknow, during the holiday sea-
son.
The Lucknow Women's Institute
will hold their regular meeting in
the assembly room Monday, Janu-
ary 10th at 12.30 p.m.
Mrs. Eileen Nesbitt of Ripley
spent Christmas Day with Mr. and
Mrs. Chester Emmerton and family
of 2nd concession, Huron.
On December 18th Mrs. Gordon
Ritchie, of Lucknow and her family
had their Christmas get together at
the Anglican Hall in Lucknow.

J. J. and Lynne Houston,
Toronto, were holiday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Houston.
Lynne remained for the Christmas
vacation week with' her grandpar-
ents.
A family Christmas dinner was
held at the home of George
Humphrey, Margori and family on
Sunday, December 19th. Those
attending were Mr. and Mrs. Barry
Haldenby and girls of Holyrood,
Wm. A. Humphrey of St. Helens,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nugent and Scott
of St.• Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.'
Humphrey of. Lucknow.
Don and Bev Thompson, Susan,'
Nancy and Donalda of Lucknow,
spent two weeks over Christmas at
Hollywood Beach, Florida and also
spent two days at Disney World,
Orlando, Florida en route. Friends
Bill and Iris Kennedy of Durham
spent • the time with them at
Hollywood. While the visit to
Disney World provided weather
cold enough to be wearing wool
toques and winter coats, the
temperature at Hollywood, 200
miles farther south, was about . 70
degrees on the average, but
generally cooler and cloudier than
normal. The Christmas weather
was generally summed up as the
poorest in many years, but
compared to the snowbanks wait-
ing upon return, things were pretty
good in the south.
Two other families from this
community who annually spend
Christmas in Hollywood, are Bob
and Lois McIntosh, Pamela and
John; Bob and Marg Finlay, ,
Sandra and Paul. The three
families are close neighbours at
Hollywood and were joined on
several occasions by Lloyd and
Eileen Ashton, permanent winter
residents there. The group all had
Christmas diluter together.
Surprise callers on the Finlays,
Mclntoshs and Thompsons were Al
and Lorraine Baker of Stayner,
'formerly of Lucknow, and Mrs.
Walter (Donna Mead) Reid of
Barrie, formerly of Ripley and
children Shannon and Shawn; also
Laverne Barker of New Lowell. All
were in Miami with the area. Legion
massed pipe band which particip-'
ated in the Orange Bowl Parade. A
large group of band members and
their families made the charter
trip. They were in the parade two
years ago, apd upon invitation,
were back fof a repeat perform-
ance. Walter Reid was with the
band, playing at Miami area
hospitals, the day of the visit.
Christmas visitors in Hollywood
were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Webster
of London, Fred being a Lucknow
native. Both Bob McIntosh and
Don Thompson had chance meet-
ings with them while there.
Alex Becking, a resident at
Hillcrest Haven, Lucknow for the
past three years, passed away
suddenly on Thursday, December
30th at University Hospital, London
following a brief illness. He was in
his 61st year.
Alex 'was of a quiet nature. He
enjoyed the Lucknow Town and
Country Club of which he was a
member and was noted for his card
playing ability. He will be, missed
for his helping hand shown in many
ways. .
Surviving are two brothers and
three sisters of Sudbury and the
Western Pp:Winces.
The funeral service and committ-
al was conducted Sunday, January
2nd at the MacKenzie Memorial
Chapel, Lucknow, by Rev. George
Garratt of Lucknow Anglican
Church.
Temporary entombment was at
South Kinloss Mausoleum with
spring interment at Greenhill
Cemetery.

Christmas visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Herb Clark, Jim, Kevin and
Doug of Lucknow were: their son
Tom and Dianne Clark of Wood-
stock, their daughter Kathy and
Doug Abbott, Michelle and Dennis
of Foymount. Kathy and children
remained for a longer visit.

treatment. He was accompanied
by his wife Joan and son Ken. Joan
will stay in the city. Everyone here
is hoping for 'John's recovery. It is
indeed fortunate that this commun-
ity has, living in it, people like
those mentioned who have the
knowledge and ability to handle an
emergency such as happened last
Friday.
