Mrs. Mary Campbell had as
guests this weekend Mr. and Mrs.
Keith Snell of Kirkland Lake and also
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Campbell of
London.
Twelve tables of card players were
on hand for the regular Monday
night euchre party at Blyth Memor
ial Hall Oct. 24. High lady for the
evening was Irene Whitemore while
Harvey Sillib was the high man. Low
scores were recorded by June
Jacklinand Willis Bromley. Alberta
Stevens and Len Shobbrook had the
most lone hands. Nora Kelly won the
special prize.
AttheOct. 17party, IrmaCrich
and Len Shobbrook had the high
scores while Mildred McNall and
Millar Richmond had the low scores.
Esther Moffat and Ruth Fisher had
the most lone hands and Roma
Nicholson won the special prize.
At the Lost Heir party on Oct. 8,
Feme Howatt and Bert Daer had the
high scores while Mary Holland and
Graeme McDowell had the low
scores. Special prizes went to Ruth
Sheills and Harve McCallum. The
Lost Heir parties take place every
Wednesday night at Memorial Hall
at 8 p.m.
The Blyth Festival Singers per
formed at a Wesleyan hymn sing in
North Street United Church,
Goderich on Sunday evening. The
occasion was to celebrate the 250th
Anniversary of Methodism and
featured the music of Charles
Wesley and John Wesley, in dress of
the day, was the honoured guest and
read selections from his brother
Charles’ diary. It was also the
premiere performance of the hymn
tune “Blyth”, composed by Angus
Sinclair and set to the familiar words
of “Forth in Thy name O Lord I go. ’ ’
A second new hymn tune Hayden
composed by Nixon McMillan,
Waterloo was also used. The choir
was directed by Angus Sinclair, with
Carol Carter, at the organ and
Duncan McGregor of St. Catharines
playing the role of Charles Wesley.
