Phone 887-9250 The first meeting of the Ethel II, 4-H Club met at the home of leader, Beth Earl. The meeting began with the 4-H pledge and the election of officers. Priska Menzi was elected president. Kelly Krauter is vice­ Hall board still has some repairs ahead On Tuesday evening the Ethel Hall Board held their annual meeting. There still remain some Ethel repairs to be finished to bring the hall up to standards. The euchre parties for the coming year were organized. There will be an admission in- crease this year to $1.50. Tacos were made and topped off with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cheese. The members enjoyed this delicious treat. It was decided to hold the next meeting on October 3 at leader Judy Glen’s house and the meeting was closed with the 4-H pledge. The Ethel II “Prime Cuts” met on October 3 at 7 p.m. and began the meeting with the 4-H pledge and roll call. Members were asked to each bring a favourite family recipe to help make the club’s cook book. A discussion was held on the safe purchasing, storing and preparing of different types of meat. The dish of stir-fry vegetables with beef was made and eaten by the members, along with a glass of juice. Everyone enjoyed this dish. The next meeting will be on October 17 at 7 p.m. The meeting closed with the 4-H pledge. personals Jean Fraser, Helen Dobson, Helen Alexander, Lou Raynard, and Margaret McMahon attended the Cranbrook W.I. meeting on Thursday evening. A Japanese exchange teacher was their guest speaker and showed slides of his home town in Japan. Gary and Beth Earl and family had Chester and Ruth Earl of Atwood, Judy Earl of London and Rick and Mary Earl of Guelph for Thanksgiving supper on Sunday. Mildred Gill, George and Eileen Gill and Darren Wood attended the wedding of Dwayne Deitrich and Barb Coghlin at the KnOx Presby­ terian Church in Listowel. A dinner and reception followed at Parkview Garden. Dwayne is Mildred Gill’s grandson. Obituaries GEORGE RYLIE WASSON George Wasson passed away at his home in Morris township on Thursday, October 6, 1988 in his 84th year. Born in Northern Ireland in 1905, GeorgecametoCanada in 1928. He married Margaret Storey in 1938. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his son Albert of Blyth and his wife Diane; his daughters Maijorieathome; Barbara and her husband Terry Richmond; Clara and her husband Robert Blake, all of Morris township; seven grand­ children, and one great-grand­ child. Also surviving are two sisters in Northern Ireland. He was prede­ ceased by two brothers and two sisters, all of Northern Ireland. The funeral service took place Saturday, October8,1988 from the Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth, with Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez officiating. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Shobbrook, John Brown, Boyd Taylor, Bert Siertsema, Aubrey McNichol and Harvey McClure. Flowerbearers were nephews Dale, Ray Storey, and Greg Storey. Grey council declares recycling week Grey Township Council held its regular meeting on October 3 and declared the week of November 14 to 20 as “Recycling Week” in the Township of Grey. Council authorized grants of $100 each to the Cranbrook Minor Ball Association and to the Brus­ sels Santa Claus Parade. Council also authorized the purchase of a four-drawer lateral filing cabinet at a price of $569 plus tax, from Bluewater Office Equip­ ment Ltd. In other business, Council ap­ proved general accounts totalling $39,950.87, drain accounts, totall­ ing $506.50 and road accounts totalling $86,133.06.
