Mr. Henschel purchased the 1220 lb. animal for $1.50/lb. Scott is a member of the Brussels 4-H Beef Calf Club. Scott’s steer was the Reserve Champion in its class. Brussels Stockyards Maple Emblem steer brings top price The market at Brussels Stock- yardsmeta strong demand with choice steers and heifers selling $3 to $4 higher, and good steers and heifers selling $1 to $2 higher. Cows ano pigs traded easier. There were 979 cattle and 498 pigs on offer. Choicesteerssoldfrom$86 to $90 with sales to $96.50. Good steers were $82 to $86. A steer consigned by Maple Emblem Farms of RR 1, Dungann­ on weighing 1200 lbs., sold for $96.50, with their total offering of 46 steers averaging 1295 lbs., selling for an overall price of $87.90. A red steer consigned by Jim Howatt of RR 1, Londesborough, weighing 1170 lbs., sold for $90.75, with his total offering of 21 steers averaging 1177 lbs. in weight, and selling for an overall price of $87.44 Thirty-one steers consigned by Lome Forster of RR 1, Lucknow, averaging 1249 lbs., sold for an average price of $85.67, with sales to $91.25. Twenty steers consigned by Jim Murray of Hickson, Ont., averaging 1274 lbs., sold for an average price of $88.06, and he had sales to $89.75. Thirty-nine steers sold for an average price of $1.25 per pound, while 16 heifers brought an average of $1.15 per pound, for an overall average of $1.22 per pound. The Overall Grand Champion animal in the show, a 1,200 lb. black Angus cross steer raised and exhibited by Vanessa Alton of RR 7, Lucknow, a member of the Lucknow 4-H Beef Calf Club, brought $2 per pound from the day’s top buyer, Bill Scott of Drumbo.
