Members are requested to Walton area students excell at SONS Five Walton and area students were among the 26 graduates of Seaforth District High School to receive Honours graduation di­ plomas at the school’s annual Commencement on September 30, while they and a large number of other local students shared in many other awards presented throughout the evening. Receiving Honours diplomas were Kim Fritz of RR 2, Brussels; Jeff Alcock of RR 3, Brussels; Donna Godkin ofRR 1, Walton; and Mary Hunt and Richard Love, both of RR 4, Walton. Julie Ezewski and Bev Hart, both of RR 2, Brussels, and Michelle Gauley of RR 1, Walton received secon­ dary school graduation diplomas among those who have left SDHS; while Pam Nolan and Blaine Marks, both of Walton; Chris HarburnofRR3, Walton and Anne Robinson of RR 4, Walton were among those returning to SDHS who also received their secondary school graduation diplomas. Miss Robinson, vice-president of the 1988-89 SDHS Students’ Council was chosen as the Grade 12 valedictorian, was seated among the other guests of honour on the auditorium stage, and assisted in presenting diplomas to some of her classmates; she was also the recipient of the L.P. Plumsteel Valedictorian plaque, as well as the winner of the Alice Daly McCon­ nell Creative Arts Award for outstanding proficiency in the arts. Kim Fritz, Jeff Alcock and Donna Godkii. were all winners of Elizabeth Scott Bursaries for Grade 13 students who have gone on to university while Miss Fritz, Mary Huntand Richard Love all shared in the Janet and Margreta Snell Scholarships for maintaining high marks in both Grade 13 English and French. Julie Ezewski was the recipient of both the Topnotch Feeds Ltd. Scholarship and the Seaforth Junior Farmers Agriculture Award, both presented annually to a student going on to a higher education in the field of agriculture or related work; and Sherry Harburn of RR 3, Walton was the winner of the Bob Blowes Art Award for the most improved art student overall. Nancy Godkin of RR 1, Walton and Heather Baan of RR 3, Walton both received a Leeming Memorial Scholarship as the top students in their grades, Nancy in Grade 10 and Heather in Grade 11. Huron MPP and Minister of Agriculture Jack Riddell, Huron County Board of Education chair­ man John Jewitt and trustees Graeme Craig and Don McDonald, HCBE superintendent Gino Gian- nandrea, SDHS principal Jim Empringham and vice-principal Rob Parr were also among the guests of honour for the evening's ceremonies.
