Bro. Harry Jack- lin, District Deputy conducted the installation of officers, assisted by Sister Mary Ellen as High Marshall Bro. Jack Conley showed slides and gave a detailed report on his trip to Saskatoon where he was a delegate to the High Court Meet­ ing on July 9 - 13. The next High Court meeting will be in Peterbor­ ough in July 1991. Lunch was served by Bro. Bob Bremner and Bro. Harry Jacklin. Huron District Council Canadian Foresters will hold their annual church service on Sunday, Sept. 18atll a.m. in Knox Church, Cranbrook. Nine members attended the W.M.S. meeting at the home of Mrs. Jim Hart in Brussels on Sept. 15. Mrs. Donald Perrie was leader and the guest speaker was Mrs. Murray Crawford. She brought us uptodateon the program of special education at Grey Central School and made us feel that any child with a learning disability can look forward to knowledgeable and sympathetic instruction from here on. The president Mrs. Jack Knight conducted the business. Roll call was “school”. All repeat- lunch was provided by Mrs. Jack ed the Mizpah benediction and Knight and Mrs. Leslie Knight. Business & Pref essional Directory Obituaries Former Belgrave resident dies ELLEN MATILDA ARMSTRONG Ellen Armstrong, formerly of Belgrave, died at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Lucknow, on Fri­ day, Sept. 16, 1988. She was 95 years of age. She was born in West Wawa- nosh Township on July 22, 1983, the daughter of the late W.J. Thompson and Matilda Clarke. She married the late Mark Arm­ strong who predeceased her in 1983. She was a member of Knox United Church, Belgrave and a life member of the U.C.W. of that church. Sheis survivedby two daugh­ ters, Donna, Mrs. Mel Craig, Bluevale and Mary, Mrs. Jack Taylor, Belgrave, and one son, Tom Armstrong, RR 2, Auburn. One brother, Joseph Thompson of Goderich as well as 15 grandchild­ ren and 32 great-grandchildren also mourn her passing. She was predeceased by four brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson. The funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 18,1988 from the McBurney Funeral Home, Wing­ ham with Rev. John G. Roberts of Belgrave United Church officiat­ ing. Interment was in Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. Serving as pallbearers were Terry Armstrong, Jeff Armstrong, Robert Taylor, Mark Taylor, Don Nolan and John Carswell, all grandchildren. Flowerbearers were great-grandchildren Renay Taylor, Craig Workman and Kevin Taylor and special friend Susan Hrovat. Former Brussels merchant passes LLOYD JOSEPH MAYER Lloyd Joseph Mayer of 77 St. Clair Ave. East, Toronto and formerly of Brussels died Monday, Sept. 12, 1988 at Wellesley Hospital, Toronto. Mr. Mayer operated Mayer Jewelry store on Brussels Main Streetfor some years. He was born in Penetanguishene 60 years ago. . He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, the former Audrey Crawford; two sons, Douglas and Robert of Toronto and one daugh­ ter, Lynda, Mrs. Ken Smith of Brusselsaswellas three grand­ children, Corry and Blair Smith and Tracey Mayer. One sister, Lorraine, Mrs. Grant Russell of British Columbia and two broth­ ers, Bob of Thorold and Pat of Toronto, also survive. The funeral service took place Friday, Sept. 16, 1988 from the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Homes with Rev. Charles Carpentier of Brussels United Church officiating.
