If you enjoy socializing, a piece of pie or muffin with tea, the Huron Day Centre (Huronview) welcomes you to its annual Bazaar October 28. In recent months, the Huron Day Centre has been very busy. In May, volunteers and staff attended the Joint Conference which was held in Ottawa of Older Adult Centres of Ontario, Meals on Wheels and Ontario Home Support Associa tion. The information acquired by those who attended was shared with those who were unable to attend, to further enhance the program. Several other informa tive workshops were also attended in the spring. The wheel-chair accessible bus was put to good use recently, with day trips to McCormick Home and Parkwood Hospital in London, Elgin Manor in St. Thomas and to Dundas to visit with Ann St. Jean (former co-ordinator) at her Day Centre there. Incidentally, the bus is available for community use with advanced notice. The Stroke Recovery Club swim therapy has resumed again, runn ing from June through to Septem ber. Many outings have been enjoy ed over the summer. The trip to Toronto to a Blue Jays game provedafun-filled day. Several picnics to Bayfield, Goderich and Mitchell were enjoyed in spite of the hot weather. The Goderich Museum provided some nostalgia for many of the clients. Back at the Day Centre, card playing, shuffleboard, playing ball, and crafts are enjoyed daily, as well as lunch. They have even pursued the making of jam. A sticky situation, matching the weather. They will continue with footcare every six weeks while hairdressing and whirlpool baths are provided daily. A survey, conducted by the University of Western Ontario is presently being done, funded by Community and Social Services to accmulate information on Day CareCentres. Staff, volunteers and clients are being interviewed as to their feelings on Day Care. The Centre will be returning to thebowling alley in September, both Tuesday mornings and Thurs day afternoons. A hearty welcome to all new clients and volunteers, and newly added additions to the staff - Jo-Ann Todd, Activity Director and Catherine Landsborough, As sistant Activity Director.
