PAGE 3 Threshers get grant Ministerof Culture and Com­ munications Lily Munro has an­ nounced several Heritage Organi­ zation and Development grants to local organizations in the Huron riding. These include $3,000 to the Van Egmond Foundation, $1,017 to the Huron County Historical Society, and $1,086 for the Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson and family of London attended Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Walden’s50th anni­ versary Open House and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Snell and other relatives on Sunday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Delton Hallman of Cambridge visited on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Snell. At this time of year many teenagers and those older go off to Universities or Community Col­ leges to continue their studies in preparation for careers. Thoseleaving this year, their first, include: Julie Howson to Queen’s University, Kingston; Karen Phillips to Sir Sanford Fleming College, Peterborough; Heather McDonald and Jeff How- son to theUniversity of Guelph; Kevin Scrimgeour to the Univer­ sity of Windsor; David Sparling to the University of Western Ont­ ario, London; Rose Ann Machan to Georgian College, Barrie; San­ dra Howson to Lamb ton College, Sarnia; Shane Snell to Fanshawe College, London; and Gail Poore to Conestoga College, DoonCampus, Doon. Continuing their studies at Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo, are Christa Walden, Jeff Sippel and Todd van Vliet. Joan Clark, who has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Family and Consumer Studies, is this year attending the University of Western Ontario’s Althouse College, London, which is Wes­ tern’s training school for teachers. Dianna Willie is continuing her studies in journalism at Conestoga College, Doon Campus. The Blyth Community hopes that, for all of these ambitious students, this coming year’s work will prove to be both exciting and challenging.
