A Lucknow area girl, Lois Hanna, was
named Miss Mid-western Ontario at the
annual pageant held in conjunction with
the Lucknow Fall Fair, Saturday evening.
Lois„, who was crowned Miss.Lucknw
Fall Fair SepteMber 13, represented'the
Lucknow Agricultural , Society in the
pageant. She will act as goodwill
ambassador for the area including BrUee,
Huron, Grey, Durham, Perth, Dufferin,
Welliigton iiid-virgetro counties duting
the coming year.
Lois is a grade 12 student at F. E.
Madill Secondary.in Wingham who plans
a career in art therapy working with
emotionally disturbed children. Interest-
ed in drama. she. has acted in
drama productions and last year was
producer of the musical, Oklahoma. She
is coaching the Madill cheerleaders this
year and is activities officer on the
school's student council. She is also a
Member of the Lucknow School Concert
Band.

Success is a tradition at Lucknow's annual
fall fair and this year's 115th edition is yet
another success in a fine tradition. The fair

Patterson, president of district 10 of the
Ontario Agricultural Societies. Murray

Two Lucknow area youths escaped injury
when the cars they were driving struck hydro
poles in two separate incidents on the
weekend.
Raymond Hunter' of Ashfield Township
was turning onto -Havelock Street from
Gough Street in Lucknow, when he lost
control of his car which left the road and
struck a hydro pole. The incident occurred
about 5.20 Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday morning, Gerald Cook of R. 3,
Lucknow, lost control of the car he was
driving on Huron County Road 1 and struck a
hydro pole just north of Belfast. The accident
occurred about 3.30, a.m. Sunday.
Damage to the Cook vehicle is estimated
at about $1,000. The Hunter vehicle was
driveable and damage is estimated at less
than $100.
Wins trip
to Virginia
Beverly Aitchison, 7-year-old daughter of
Mr. and. Mrs. Bob Aitchison, was the lucky
winner of a trip for two to Wheeling, West
Virginia in the bumper sticker contest
sponsored by CKNX radio in Wingham. -
Beverly's name was called Thursday
morning and she had nine minutes to phone
the radio station. Her grandfather, Ken
Dowling of Wroxeter, called Brookside
School to tell her to call CKNX and claim her
prize.
Beverly was surprised to win the trip.
When she entered the contest she hoped she
might win a record.
The-trip- is-for two and Beverly's mother
says they may purchase another ticket so she
and her husband can accompany Beverly to'
West Virginia.
