She feels.it is an excellent opportunity to
travel and to meet people from countries
around the world.
While in Ontario she has been staying.
with Cliff and Joan liVitigstort on their farm
in Ashfield, $he'sayS7it hag been jest like at
home because she fits in With a. large family.
She is the third oldest of a family which
includes.: two sisters and, three brothers. Her
father is an accountant awl her mother is a
cashier, Shannon has found the people she
has met during her stay to be very open and
friendly.
Niagara Falls has been the highlight of the
trip she says.,,,
"It is just beautiful. I've never seen
anything like it."
She also enjoyed a, trip to the Shakes-
pearen Festival in Stratford to see the play,
Bosoms •and Neglect.
Jon Richardson, 16, who has been staying
with Chuck and Nancy Beckerdf Lucknow,
remembers his first impression of .Ontario.
"The first thing I remember getting oft'
the van was the trees, he says, ,"We have
trees in Texas but they never grow as tall as
the trees here."
Jon lives on a farm 30 miles from
Beeville, Texas which—has a • populatioe of
20,000, which includes the Chasefield Air
Base. The youngest of his family, he hes an•
older brother, step-brother and step-sister.
His father is ,a flying instructor at the air
base teaching low landing attack and his
mother is a 'homemaker.
A grade 10 student he plans to, persue a
career in laW enforcement and hopes to work
on the beach patrol.
He used to participate in moto-cross
racing until he was involved in an accident
which broke both his legs. Since then, racing
has been too painful and he has had to, give it
up.
He belongs to a tennis team and will be
. joining the Future Farmers of America in
te.'fall, a' group similar to- Our Junior
He IS also interested in, photography' and
was doing darkroorn ,work until hiS brother
moved' away from twine,and -took the
equipment. with him.

He considers the trip a great opportunity
for young people..While in Toronto he Was

describes 'as ;"fabulous".
Both Shannon and Jon attended a week
long camp for the exchange visitors who
came to Ontario at St. Marys during the
third Week in July. Fifty-two campers from

the car he was driving struck a. tree, early
Saturday Morning.
Michael Bro wn, 18, of. West Wawanosh
Township, is in satisfattory -condition in
Wingham and District Hospital.
He was injured when his car left
concession 8 and 9 of West Wawanosh, 1.4
kilometres east of Huron County road 1,
went into the ditch, hit a tree and flipped
over.
The car, a 1970 Chevelle convertible, was
completely destroyed in the mishap which
occurred about 5.30 a.m. Saturday.

Learning about cultures in other countries
and living with their bast families has give
them 'glimpses of another way of life.„
